Updating your outdoor planters is a sure way to observe the transition into fall. I’ve already noticed so many people on Instagram have changed out their front porch planters and pots filled with summer flowers and replaced them with mums. After a quick trip into town where I found Sugar Pumpkins for 59 cents and then a trip to Trader Joe’s, you would think it was at least mid-October from the look of my front porch. But, why not?
For the last several years I’ve used a combination of galvanized pots that I’ve mostly found at Ikea over the years. It seems that the popularity of galvanized everything is still going strong. I’ve rounded up a few of my favorites. There’s just something about fall, pumpkins and mums and a galvanized pot that goes together. You can practically smell the scent of pumpkin spice in the air. I think I might need to make a batch of these. Last year’s fall front door looked a little different, I almost forgot about the cut out bats!
Our Friday Favorites:
The Brooklyn Book Festival is the largest free literary event in New York City. It takes place this weekend with a Children’s Day on Saturday.
7-Grain pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins by The View From Great Island. Everything Sue makes is beautiful. I try her recipes often and am never disappointed. I think these muffins will become a favorite.
I love how denim is making a comeback. It’s not that it ever really left, but it’s moving up the list again of popularity. We used to have slipcovered denim sofas from Pottery Barn. I wish we still had them. Denim slipcovers never wear out. These adorable “Indigo” baby booties from bink & boo pairs well with this new Moroccan Denim Pouf from Serena & Lily. Now this would be the perfect baby gift!
So this is the last weekend of Summer! Hope you enjoy it and as you can see…Fall, I’m ready for ya!
