This delicious recipe combines the crisp sweetness of seasonal apples with the light and puffy texture of a Dutch baby pancake, making it the perfect breakfast or brunch. Instructions for making a caramel apple Dutch baby recipe with crème anglaise (optional)
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
- Add the butter to a medium ovenproof skillet (I use a cast iron pan, which I think is preferable) and place it in the center of the oven until the butter melts. This should only take about 1-2 minutes.
- In a large bowl, whisk the eggs.
- Add the milk, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, vanilla extract, flour, and salt and whisk until combined and smooth and there are not any lumps.
- Pour batter into the hot pan with the melted butter and place it in the center of the preheated oven. Bake for approximately 20-25 minutes until the edges of the pancake puff up and turn golden brown around the edges.
- While the Dutch baby is baking, prepare the caramel sauce and apples. In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and then add the cream and brown sugar to the hot skillet.
- Next, add the apple slices and cook them, stirring frequently, until the apples are tender, about 5-10 minutes. When the apples have softened, add the vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
- For serving, pour the apples over the center of the Dutch Baby, slice and plate individual pieces, and pour a bit of Créme Anglais on top. And don’t forget a cup of coffee to go with it!

For Your Party
This company that makes custom matchbooks, cocktail napkins, and other party supplies has been on my radar for quite a while! When my daughter texted me a photo of a matchbook for her upcoming 30th birthday, I knew it had to be from For Your Party.
I love party supplies, and custom party supplies are even better! And don’t even get me started on my love of matchbooks. I was way too overjoyed when I discovered a restaurant that had matchbooks. So why not have custom matchbooks for your home?
I plan to order matchbooks for Madeline’s birthday party and some for our home at the same time. I would love a bowl of matches in the entryway for anyone who visits to grab one on their way out the door.
Wouldn’t they look lovely beside your favorite candle? So now the only questions are: how will you customize your matchbook, and will you choose strike matchbooks or classic, square, lipstick, barrel, mini, or triangle matchbooks? Oh, and colors, what colors will you choose? Can you feel my excitement about custom matchbooks?
My favorites from Sézane
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my posts on my visit to one of the beautiful Sézane stores in Paris with Mary Ann and Susan. We all found something we loved.
I have had a Will Jacket in Khaki for several years, which I purchased here in Paris on a family vacation. I wear it year-round and love it. So this time, I chose a wool-lined jacket, but the cut is the same. It’s a very easy jacket to wear and goes with everything! Mary Ann went with a Denim Will Jacket.
Susan and Mary Ann each got a couple of Betty Cardigans. They are also very versatile wardrobe additions, and they come in several colors.
I tried on this stripe shirt and saw that Susan bought it! Now I wish I had, too!
Holiday or Fall Centerpieces
I’ll share a fall centerpiece with a group of bloggers on Thursday using my vintage copper preserves pan. It was fun to put together, but it’s pretty large. This set of antiqued iron bowl planters from Terrain would be lovely to use individually or all three to create centerpieces. I can’t wait to get home to make a few centerpieces with dahlias or other fall flowers.
Let’s see what Cindy and Mary Ann found this week in their travels.

Hi Annie,
Thank you for the gorgeous recipe I will have to try it when we have family in town! My hubby and I are doing a no sugar thing! I love Sezane Max shirts and just bought the corduroy one which I am excited about. There is a store about 50 miles from me and I go there whenever I can. The one in London is just always a zoo and very small whereas the Paris one looks much more relaxing! How lovely you found something!!
Enjoy Paris! Take care xo

Francesca! I was doing that no sugar thing too and then we arrived in Paris, and that went out the window! But I’m home now, so I’m not sure what excuses I have! haha
I saw a woman trying on a brown corduroy shirt and I loved it! What color did you get?
Now that I think about it, I guesss my closest store in SOHO is about 50 milkes away too!

And the great thing about shopping at Sezane in Paris is that it’s quite a bit less, and you can get a refund on the tax!
