For Sunday Favorites with Mary Ann and Cindy, I thought I would take you along on a visit to a wonderful store in the West Village. It’s called Big Night. It’s all about everyday entertaining. At Big Night they believe “Not every night is a dinner party, but any night can be a Big Night.” Owner, Katherine Lewin has a new book with plenty of big night ideas.
I was first introduced to their store in Greenpoint, Brooklyn by my daughter Madeline. She loves color, she loves entertaining, and she loves trying new products.
Big Night is a one-stop shop for everything from caviar to beautiful pasta. Not only will everything be the best quality, but it’s going to look great in your pantry too! It’s like a shoppable apartment. Each area is designed by color. The store overall has a lot of color, but then it’s sort of organized by a main color for each section.
From colorful and unusual glassware to beautiful flatware from Paris by Sabre. Set a gorgeous table or perhaps just pick up a few gifts. Olive oil, chocolate sardines, or ice cream from Bad habit.

They have colorful linens, candles, and the popular and very colorful cutting boards by Fredericks and Mae.
Their West Village location is on West 10th Street. It’s in a wonderful location that we just happened to come upon after having lunch at Buvette. I knew Big Night had opened a second location in the neighborhood, but didn’t realize until we came up to the bright red doors.
It’s such a happy place once you walk through those red doors with stenciled letters on glass for the sign. But in case you can’t make it to Big Night in the West Village or in Brooklyn, below are some links to a few of my favorite things.
Left: Emile Henry Oil Cruet Disenser in red // Tinned Fish // Marimekko Unikko Mugs // Sabre Flatware in Blue // Graza Olive Oil // Black and White Bowtie Pasta // X-Long Spaghetti Right: Chocolate Sardines in a Tin // Marimekko Bowl // Big Night Book // Opinel Kitchen Knife Set of 4 // Bianco Tomatoes Red Can // Bianco Tomatoes Crushed // Bianco Tomatoes Whole in Yellow Can // Set of Four Plaid Napkins

You’ll find Big Night at 236 West Tenth Street in the West Village. It’s between Bleecker Street and Hudson Street. Bleecker Street has many shops inlcuding Hudson Grace, Buck Mason, ba&sh, Diptyque, The Old Yew, Cursive Home,
Restaurants in the West Vilage Neighborhood
Some of my favorite restaurants are in the neighborhood, which is how we came upon Big Night. We just had lunch at Buvette on Grove Street, Also on Grove Street, Via Carota, Bar Pisselino,
I love all of these restaurants. Buvette for breakfast, lunch or dessert. Via Carota is my favorite restaurant in NY. Their cacio pepe is amazing! Actually, everything on the menu is delicious.
On the corner of Grove and 7th Avenue is Bar Pisselino. The perfect spot for everything from a coffee in the morning to a glass of wine in the evening.
Little Owl is on the corner of Grove Street and Bedford Street. A corner known as the “Friends” apartment building.
One more favorite thing this week: My little shop is open!
As you may know, we own a shop called SHOP Most Lovely Things, and over the summer we drove all over France from flea market to flea market, buying items for our shop. I hope, if you haven’t had the chance to vist, you’ll pop over and take a look! Merci!
I felt like I just had a nice tour of the West Village with you! Your shop has great finds and is so well priced!
Annie this store looks and sounds delightful! It is a good thing that I do not live close because I see so many things I might “need.”
I love all of the beautiful pieces your have in your shop, sadly a couple of the things I liked are already sold. I will have to be quicker the next time.
Have a wonderful week!
