Timeless Bathroom Design + Other Sunday Favorites

We’ve been looking at more apartments in New York City, and honestly, we’ve both been enjoying the process. The apartments we’re really drawn to are the ones that have had very little done to them — we love the bones of old prewar buildings. The moldings, the doors, the original brass hardware.
Every so often, we’ll see an apartment where the bathroom looks like it could be original. It probably isn’t, but the style is so old-school New York. So if we do buy something with a “renovated” bathroom, chances are we’ll renovate it right back to something more original-looking, with white subway tile and white fixtures with unlacquered brass faucets.
Here are a few from Remodelista that I’m saving for inspiration…

All of these images have certain elements that I love. Simple tile, sink, flooring, a vintage mirror, and if there’s space, an old piece of wood furniture for storage. Lighting is always important, and again, the simpler the better. What’s your favorite element?

One of my favorite shops in New York is Nicky Kehoe. They have the best of everything for home and garden. The shop in NYC is in an old brownstone, so you can really imagine what each item will look like in a home. I wrote about the shop in this post: A Visit to Nickey Kehoe Design Studio & Shop NYC.
Outfit of the week

Left to right: Script Print Fluid Shirt Dress // Warby Parker Tal Sunglasses // Alex Mill Weekday Tote // Sézane Morgan Bracelet// Agathe Necklace // Justine Basket Bag // Birkenstock Sandals
I found three dresses I love at Toast, a brand I only recently started shopping at. They have a handful of shops in the United States, and I visited the one on Madison Avenue on the Upper East Side. A couple of things worth knowing before you go: they don’t carry sale items in stores, and the sizing runs in UK sizes, so keep that in mind — but otherwise it’s very true to size. Trying things on in person helped me nail down what to order.
The shirt dress is one of my favorites right now — so easy to wear, and it has pockets! I’ve been styling it with my new Birkenstock sandals and this bag from Sezane. And I have to mention my Warby Parker sunglasses. They’re fitted with progressive lenses, just like my regular glasses, and the quality of both the lenses and the frames has been excellent.
A new cookbook coming August 4th.

This gorgeous cookbook hits shelves August 4th, and it’s a love letter to one of the world’s most celebrated food destinations. Paris Citix60 Recipes is packed with bistro classics, street food favorites, and home-cooked dishes — each one paired with the personal stories behind it. I can already picture this one living on kitchen counters everywhere.

I love the idea of classic bathroom design for old buildings. I remember loving our bathroom in the Bowery Hotel.
