Make Simple Flower Crown Votives

This week we had friends over for a casual dinner. It was the most beautiful evening, so we ate outside. Since it was very last minute, I set the table using what I had ––including the flowers. I made simple flower crowns for glass jars using hydrangeas. This seemed too good not to share for Sunday favorites with Cindy and Mary Ann today!
Flower crown votives DIY
Some of the loveliest ideas are the simplest ones. These flower crown votives came together almost by accident—I had a handful of vintage French working glasses on the table for votives, but then I realized I could use hydrangeas to add a little something extra. I used a rubber band at the top of each glass (a jar would work too), and then stuck in small hydrangea clippings all around the glass. That was really all it took.
Here’s the whole trick: slip a rubber band around the top of the glass, then tuck petals into it, one at a time, all the way around. The band holds everything in place invisibly, so from the outside all you see is a little wreath of petals crowning the glass. Drop in a votive, and the light does the rest — it catches the petals from below and makes the whole thing glow.
What you’ll need:

- Working glasses or jars
- Rubber bands, sized to fit around the rim
- A few flowers (Hydrangeas worked well, but marigolds would work beautifully too).
- Votive candles
How to make them:
- Place a rubber band around the top of the glass, just below the rim.
- Starting anywhere, tuck petals under the band one by one, working your way around until the whole rim is ringed in petals.
- Fill in any gaps so the crown looks full and even, but not perfect.
- Set a votive inside and light it once the sun starts to go down.
They’re the kind of thing you can put together in ten minutes while dinner’s in the oven, but they make a table look like you spent all afternoon on it. And you can add candles and flowers to one!

A few more Sunday Favorites this week:
Olaplex
I mentioned last week that I have been using Olaplex shampoo and conditioner for about the last six months. Recently, I started using the No. 3 Plus Complete Repair Treatment with the Strengthening Shampoo and Conditioner. The difference with this repair treatment is that you apply it to wet hair, then, after three minutes, follow with the strengthening shampoo and conditioner. My hair has never felt so smooth and healthy. I let it dry naturally so I could compare. I was surprised how much a difference a 3-minute treatment changed my hair! This kit is a perfect place to start if you want to try it!
Elyce Arons
Elyce Arons is a total treasure this week. She co-founded Kate Spade back in 1993 with her best friend and namesake, Kate Spade, and now runs Frances Valentine, the lifestyle brand they launched together in 2016. But I’m sharing her for something totally different — her flea market hunts on YouTube, where she digs up incredible one-of-a-kind vintage finds.
I love vintage shopping for Shop Most Lovely Things, but I don’t often shop for vintage clothing. I think I might be missing out!

Banana Republic
A few items from Banana Republic caught my eye lately. First, the collaboration with La Ligne, and specifically this shirt. I also love this bag!

I love the way your creative mind works. We have hydrangeas in the yard turning colors…I just need the votive candles.
Everytime you come up with another way to use your gorgeous hydrangeas I get more jealous!! You are going to miss that bush!!
