Simple Ways to Set a Thanksgiving Table with No Stress!
One of my favorite things about Thanksgiving is thinking of simple and sustainable ways to set a beautiful table. I always let nature inspire me. Fall is the prettiest time of year, filled with earthy tones.
Start to Plan Your Table:
Mix it up with your dishes
I love to mix my earthy stoneware with my vintage gold-rimmed china or my white Apilco porcelain dishes. I may use stoneware plates and china bowls to serve my first course, which is always pumpkin soup.
Mix up your glassware too
I love using stemmed glassware, my French tumblers, or even some small glasses from Ikea in amber or red. Classic Casual Home sets a beautiful table and lets the colors of the flowers on the table determine her glassware. It’s so pretty! You can read her recent post right here!
Flowers and candles
I like to keep the flowers and the candles pretty minimal on a Thanksgiving table, saving room for the food if serving family style. I use simple, re-purposed jars or bottles for flowers, either foraged or just a stem of something. For candles, tapers in minimal candlestick holders and a few tea lights in mini tart tins down the table.
Table Linens
I think this is a personal choice. I like to use natural linen for the napkins. I did love this tablecloth I used for our garden party last summer. I saw that it is available in brown and white, perfect for Thanksgiving. Or, I often leave our farm table bare for Thanksgiving for a more rustic look.
Seating around the table
Nothing says Thanksgiving more than a mix of chairs. Our Tucker chairs from Serena & Lily work well with any style table. I also love to bring in a bench for this holiday. A bench looks cozy and always makes room for more!
