July is sale time at Serena & Lily! Some of my favorite pieces in our home came from Serena & Lily. They have such timeless pieces that transition from house to house. I did buy a few new things when we moved to this house, but I also used pieces that that I had in our previous home! Our entryway is the perfect example of using old and new from Serena & Lily
Our 1920 beach cottage does not have much of an entryway, so in order to create a space that felt like an entryway, we used the Shore bench. It creates the feeling of an entryway by having items you would normally see in a proper entry. In the summer, I remove the cushion and use summer pillows like the Montecito that I also use several on our front porch, and the Avilas linen pillow.
We then placed our Cooper stools under the console table that has a big wooden bowl for keys. We love the way the leather stools look under a more modern metal console table, and they are great for extra seating. Out of the way when not needed, but not too far when you do want to use them around the coffee table for a game of Scrabble!

An Oversize Linen Blazer from Quince
I ordered a few things from Quince, and will be doing a post later this month with Mary Ann and Cindy, but one thing I found for Madeline, I just had to share right away! A few weeks ago she thought a black linen blazer might be something she could use in her wardrobe. I noticed that Quince had one and I ordered it without even consulting Madeline. It happened to arrive today just as she was about to head to the train back to the city. She loves it! It’s the perfect thing for wearing with a skirt, over a dress, with jeans….so many things! She looked adorable wearing it with a crop tank, vintage Levis that she made into shorts and her Samba sneakers. The black onyx ring she’s wearing was my mom’s when she was her age. She gave it to Madeline a few years ago. She’s going to love seeing it on her. I might send her the photo without the tattoo! haha

I’ve had woven lamp shades on my mind ever since our last trip to Paris where we saw them at Merci Paris and in the lobby of our beautiful hotel, Mob House. Hobo Bags are Back!
According to Head of Styling at Anthropologie, Kyla Flax, Hobo bags are back, and I for one could not be more thrilled! I have two almost vintage bags that will be coming out to play! One that I wear all the time from Philip Lim and a larger Kooba bag. Anyone remember Kooba bags?

I have so many good things from Serena and Lily and now IS a great time to buy. Ballard has good woven shades too.

I do not remember Kooba bags…That hobo style is a practical one to carry. That ring is. beautiful on Madeline and that jacket from Quince is fabulous!! I am stewing about purchasing those stools for Summer’s bedroom from Serena and Lilly.
