My favorite skirt from Eileen Fisher is a wardrobe staple and the piece I reach for often. I saw a post on Instagram from Eileen Fisher about a challenge to do more with less and instantly thought of this skirt. For Sunday favorites with Mary Ann and Cindy today, I thought I would share how I wear this skirt and a few other favorites.
Eileen Fisher skirt with a Gap oversized shirt and a Uniqlo vest
Pairing this Eileen Fisher puckered linen skirt with a Gap “Big Shirt” and a Uniqlo thin quilted vest turned out to be my favorite look. All of these are pieces I travel with, and when traveling, it’s so much easier to put together a look that I might not wear at home. Do you know what I mean? Is it out of necessity, or is it that I feel braver when I am traveling?
I wore this in France last fall with sneakers, one of my favorite outfits. Then, I recently bought these red flats from Amazon, and I love how the red makes the outfit so fun. The puckered linen skirt has some texture. Add the plain black cotton shirt with the thin quilted vest, and the outfit may be all black or “off-black,” but it’s still interesting.
Add a black blazer to any outfit
Adding a black blazer can dress the skirt up or down. It’s funny how a blazer can do that. Check out my Instagram to see the look on the left with the Cashmere hoodie from Garnet Hill and Samba sneakers.
On the right, I’m wearing a skirt with a matching shirt as a dress. Wearing it with a blazer and oxfords for a menswear look. I rolled the blazer’s sleeves to make it a little more casual, revealing a cream and black pinstripe lining. It is a small detail, but it changes the look. I added my vintage Tiffany silver bracelets as well.
Two-piece Eileen Fisher dress with an oversized corduroy shirt
The Eileen Fisher oversized corduroy shirt is another piece I wear often and in multiple ways. I am wearing the skirt and shirt as a dress and the oversized corduroy shirt as a jacket that makes it more casual. The black Sambas are the perfect shoe for the look and, of course, comfort. I wore this all over France with a Uniqlo crossbody bag or a tote bag.
This would also work with any of the shoes shown in this post, whether Oxfords, loafers, or red ballet flats. I love each piece’s versatility.
Skirt, shirt worn with the Will jacket from Sézane
This was another outfit that I wore in France. When I had more options, I might not have put the khaki green jacket with this skirt/shirt at home, but it turns out I liked the color combination. The gorgeous loafers from Angela Scott take it to the next level. I love how a shoe can do that!
A few additional favorites that are all related to these looks:
Uniqlo Crossbody Bags
Uniqlo round mini shoulder bags come in several colors and fit more than you might think. They are great for everyday wear and travel!
No-Show Socks
I wear no-shows with all of my shoes. Finding the right pair is crucial to comfort. I wear Comrad no-show socks with sneakers for extra support and Bombas lightweight no-show socks with oxfords and loafers. Both stay in place and have size options to ensure you get the right fit.
Sambas, Loafers, and Red Ballet Flats
Shoes make an outfit. I love that I can wear a pair of sneakers like Sambas and feel that they add style to a look and comfort. In Paris, we often walk 10-14 miles a day. Shoes and socks are critical! You can read more about my love of Adidas Sambas in this post.
A great pair of black loafers is a must-have in my closet. My favorites are Gucci Brixton loafers and the Ms. Charlotte loafers from The Office of Angela Scott. You can read more in this post.
Red ballet flats, or If red is not your thing, this shoe comes in 35 color and style variations. Oh, and they are $100!
That’s all for me today! If you want to join the Eileen Fisher Challenge, check it out on Instagram @eileenfisherny. Now, let’s see what Cindy and Mary Ann found this week.

Love these outfits and the skirt…I thrifted a fun textured vintage silk skirt in black this week. I am going to have fun mixing up the styling options like you have done here!
Like you mentioned…I wouldn’t wear it in my garden or to do chores in the house but it will be great for travel and going out !
Have a fabulous week :-))

what a great versatile skirt.
I have a question about the Will jacket. I have not ordered from Sezane. What do you recommend for sizing – does it run true to size?

Annie! What a fun challenge. I love that skirt … and red flats! And, yes, I’m definitely a little braver … style-wise … when traveling. Why is that?! xo

Annie, super cute ideas here, especially for a travel capsule. I love the black vest and skirt and shirt so much, but you look great in all of them. You are so right, travel does inspire you to wear things in new ways! I have the jacket version of the Uniqlo vest, but want the vest now too!
