For Sunday Favorites this week, I am sharing a look into the beautiful home of my friend Cindy Hattersley. Cindy, Mary Ann, and I had been planning a creators retreat with a few bloggers for so long, and this past week was the week when we all finally met.
One of the best things about blogging is meeting other creatives. We gathered to share ideas, and Cindy’s home was the most inspiring environment I could ever imagine.
Each guest received a personalized bag filled with local treasures from Cindy’s town, Paso Robles. Etto Pasta, a dish towel, a darling heart dish from Atrium Mercantile. It’s not often that we get to meet in person, so this week was amazing! And we have so many lovely things to remember it by!
From left to right: Kris (Driven by Decor), Cindy, Mary Ann, Jennifer (A Well Style Life), Juliet (Make Mine a Spritzer), and me!
Cindy’s home has so many beautiful and inspiring places to gather. Both indoors and out. The weather was perfect, but a little warm on the back patio, but no worries, she has a shaded courtyard.
The Courtyard
One of my favorite spots in Cindy’s home is her beautiful courtyard. The round table, with comfortable chairs, is perfect for getting down to business. The bench (on the right) is something she has had for years. I love how Cindy finds the perfect spot for loved pieces in any home. She used this piece in her last home, just outside her office.
We continued to the seating area and continued our conversation with a cheese board. Marigolds are such a nice touch on a cheeseboard.
The Kitchen with Banquette
We gathered in the kitchen for coffee in the morning. Cindy’s banquette is what I love about adding a banquette; it always makes room for one or two more. If it were just a table, it would probably have four chairs. All six of us could fit since it’s a corner banquette. We have one in our current living room and one at our former home in New Canaan.
The Dining Room
The Living Room
It is so comfortable and spacious but made cozy with a mix of gorgeous pillows and throws. She foraged branches for the large coffee table from her property. Cindy embraces the seasons with her decor. There were big bowls and baskets of pumpkins and gourds with preserved leaves all over her home. It’s such a lovely touch. Of course, it makes me want to visit every season to see how she decorates using natural foliage and elements from her area.
The Den
Cindy hides her television behind a custom cabinet made from shutters.
Here are a few more favorites:
Juliet was wearing a beautiful chain necklace. I had never heard of the brand before, but I love that they have a 14k gold version of the same chain. It’s called the Parker Necklace. You can wear the clasp in front or in the back like you normally would. Or you could add a charm or two. Some that can be engraved, like this one.
Thanksgiving
We’ve been sharing our tried and true recipes all week. From the turkey, mashed potatoes, maple glazed autumn carrots, green beans with mushrooms and shallots, crunchy bread stuffing, cranberry sauce, and even a dish for your vegan guests–stuffed acorn squash.
Are you on our email list? On November 1st, we will send out our “Complete Guide to Thanksgiving” – lists and everything you need to prepare for hosting Thanksgiving. And don’t worry…I’ve left space for you to customize your guide.
Sign up below, and it will be sent to your inbox on November 1st in an easy-to-print-out format.

Annie! I’m looking forward to your shop reopening and your complete guide to Thanksgiving! Wow, with your France shopping expedition, the retreat and planning for next month’s holiday you’ve been busy! What fun to look through your photos and relive last week. You, Cindy and Mary Ann put so much thought and hard work into planning this amazing blogging retreat and I loved every minute of it. And speaking of Cindy, her home is such an inspiration and I returned with several ideas for mine inspired by her. The banquette being at the top of the list. xo
