3 simple ways to embellish your kraft paper gift wrap for the holidays. It’s a little crafty, but each idea will take minimal supplies and not much time! Because no one has extra time during the holidays, right?
1. Add a little glam to your kraft paper gift wrap with golden leaves
Supplies Needed:
- Leaves
- Heavy books
- Gold Spray Paint (I used Marbelizing Spray Paint in Gold Chiffon)
- Kraft Paper
- Jute Twine
- Assorted tags
You can watch a quick video here!
This is so easy and you can save them to reuse from year to year.
- All you do is gather some leaves. Put the, between the pages of a book and place additional books on top or something heavy and leave for a few days.
- Lay the dried leaves out on some heavy cardboard or a box and in a well ventilated area, spray them with gold spray paint covering one side completely. I used a marbled gold paint beacuse that’s all I could find and it worked beautifully.
- Let them dry for a few hours.
- Tuck them into the twine on a gift to elevate the everyday brown kraft paper.
- I reused clay tags that I made last year. You can see that post here.
2. Potato Stamp Patterned Kraft Paper Gift Wrap and Note Cards
Simple DIY Thank you notes
Supplies Needed:
- Russet Potato
- Skewer or somthing sharp to create a pattern
- knife
- paint (red and white)
- small brush and Q-tip
- Kraft Paper and Kraft Paper Note Cards
- Sharpie Paint Pen
You can watch a very quick video here.
I had one potato in the pantry and that’s all you need to make a stamp. I decided on a mushroom. Using the skewer I etched the simple outline of a mushroom in the middle of the potato that I cut in half.
Then using a sharp knife I cut away from the mushroom outline. Press it onto a paper towel to dry and then paint on the red paint.
Roll out your kraft paper and begin stamping the mushrooms in different positions all over the paper. You could do this any way you want, but I find it easier and much faster to just make up a random pattern.
Once the red paint is completely dry, go back and using a Q-tip, dip into white paint and make spots on the mushroom cap.
I also made some simple thank you notes using kraft paper cards with a scalloped edge.
3. A jar drawn on kraft paper using a sharpie paint pen to embellish simple gift wrap
You can watch a quick video here!
- Sharpie Paint Pen
- Kraft paper
- Foraged flowers or a small evergreen branch for the holidays
Using a sharpie paint pen, practice drawing a jar shape on paper, then once you have it down, lay out a piece of kraft paper for the size box you’ll be wrapping and determine the spot where you’ll want to draw the jar so that it will be positioned on the box where you’ll be able to add a clipping of a flower, small flowering tree or an evergreen.
Secure the clipping with twine tied around the box.
I hope these 3 simple ways to embellish your kraft paper gift wrap have given you some ideas for this year or next! You can see more ideas where I used a Bonne Maman jar as my inspiration in this post.
