Have you heard about the social front patio?
Have you heard about the social front patio? This week I enjoyed Kim’s post on the social front patio and what that means and how it’s bringing neighbors together. Is everyone ready for an almost back-to-normal Memorial Day next weekend? It’s time for Sunday Favorites with my friends Mary Ann and Cindy.
The new trend in home design that brings hanging out to the front yard with the social front patio?

My friend Kim of Northern California Style wrote an interesting piece on The Social Front Patio and how the pandemic brought people together by neighbors connecting through outdoor spaces in front of their homes. Kim recently remodeled her home inside and out and it’s so lovely! Definitely check it out here and follow Kim on Instagram here.
Do you have a Disco Ball hanging somewhere in your home?

Isn’t there just something about seeing a disco ball that makes you happy? Madeline wrote this article for Apartment Therapy talking about disco balls and interior design. For years Madeline had very little interest in crafts, which as a crafty person, drove me nuts. During the pandemic, she had a sudden change of heart and took on many craft projects including making a disco ball planter and vase! I’m hoping she will make me one!
We love this wall planter from the Hilton Carter Collection for Target

In last week’s Sunday favorites post, I mentioned that I ordered a few things from the Hilton Carter Collection for Target and my favorite piece is the small white wall vase or planter. I hung it on my gallery wall with a few of my favorite things and filled it with some of the flowers Mary Ann sent me for my birthday! I think these would be fun hanging on their own or as part of a grouping, I have another small white one and a little bit larger black vase. The one that I hung on the gallery wall gave me SF Girl vibes in the best possible way! Victoria is always an inspiration for making the most of small details with a modern bohemian edge!
Why wear boring and basic Birkenstocks?
Why buy another pair of regular Birkenstocks when there are so many fun options, like these color block Birkenstocks? I love this color too, Sand Castle/Faded Kahki.

I’ve shared Karen’s work before in this post, but she keeps coming up with new colorways, patterns, and these new lavender sachets made from vintage quilts. You can follow her on Instagram at @a_handmade_house and shop A Handmade House Studio. Or if you’re in New York, visit her at Field + Supply Mini Markets on Sundays in Kingston, New York through September 5th.
Annie, I love that little wall vase…and it would even look good empty or with a branch from your garden. I think we all need to go hang out on Kim’s front porch!
The little wall vase is sold out unfortunately.
Maybe they will get some returns! I think they have the black and terra cotta ones!
Mary Ann you all need come over soon! xo
Annie what a fun post. I absolutely want one of those wall vases. It looks terrific with your wall gallery! Madeline’s disco ball vases are so cool! Totally different idea! Thank you for mentioning the post Annie! So nice of you. Your front patio was wonderful to have on the blog too. You’ve done a beautiful job making it like another room. It was very inspiring to me! Off to check out those Birkenstocks now! Have a great week Annie. xo Kim
Lovely post thank you Annie and congratulations on your son’s graduation fantastic !!
Thank you, Francesca!
Annie,
The social front yard sounds fun. We live in a very friendly neighborhood so when we sit on our patio there are neighbors that always stop by to chat a bit. I can tell you this past year caused me to miss friends and acquaintances.
I saw a young mom the other day with a pair of white plastic Birkenstocks. Maybe they weren’t the real thing but they were cute. No disco balls here. I can’t revisit the 80’s. Haha.
Karen
That’s so nice Karen that you landed in a friendly neighborhood! We did as well and it has made the last year a little easier! They made plastic Birkenstocks now, I’ve seen them and they are around $40. My sister had a pair and they feel like the real thing!
