Denim Trends & Styles I’ll be Wearing for Spring 2024
Denim is a wardrobe staple for nearly everyone. So today, I am joining three friends to talk about denim trends and styles I’ll be wearing this spring in 2024.
More and more people are interested in slow fashion. Buying vintage or slightly worn clothing is becoming increasingly popular. It’s good for the environment over buying fast fashion, for sure. Denim, though, can be tricky to buy unless they are a good pair of vintage Levis. One of my favorite pair of jeans is my husband’s vintage Levis. They have been mended many times, and he loves them, too! So, I try to be mindful and save them for him to wear!

Denim trends change a lot. It didn’t seem that long ago that skinny jeans were in. I believe it was only a few months ago that stylist Susie Wright said to get rid of those skinny jeans in your closet. And I did…but then I needed to replace them!
With so many different styles to choose from, where do you even start when updating your denim? I first ruled out what I would never wear in jeans trends. It’s not to say that for some people, they may work. But for me, I will never wear barrel jeans. A barrel leg style is a tricky look to wear, in my opinion.
Baggy jeans, yes, but not too baggy. Wide leg, yes, but not too wide. Fortunately, there are many options for every trend. So let’s get into it!
Wide Leg Jeans
Slim Wide-Leg from J.Crew
Every denim brand has several options for denim with a wider leg. I tried on so many that my head was spinning. Then I found the Slim Wide Leg Jean from J.Crew. Try these if you’re not ready for wide-leg pants or jeans but want to be current. When you hold them up, you’ll notice the wider leg. But try them on! They are not nearly as wide as some but look and feel current.
The slim, wide-leg jeans in beach wash are currently on sale. I appreciate that J.Crew often has an option for different lengths. The slim-wide-leg Hillside wash comes in three lengths: classic, petite, tall, and three washes, including dark denim and white. When I purchased my slim, wide-leg white pair, tall was not an option. I’m happy to see that it is now available. I think the length is essential in wide-leg jeans.
Looser Fit Jean
Featherweight Logan Jean from Rag & Bone at Nordstrom

Washable Cashmere Hoodie from Garnet Hill // Featherweight Logan Rag & Bone Jeans // Cream and Black Adidas Sambas
Going into summer, I was most interested in finding a thin pair jeans that I love. I wear jeans all summer, but not every kind of jeans. I most likely will not wear black jeans in the summer. I would also probably stay away from dark denim or dark washes in the heat of summer.
I noticed Linda Wright wearing looser jeans and an oversized sweater from her shop, Crimson and Cashmere, in Paris. Her style is so effortless. I was searching for the perfect pair of thin denim jeans in a light color wash. I found them at Nordstrom by Rag & Bone. My favorite skinny pair of jeans (that I recently removed from my closet) was Rag & Bone, which was promising.

The featherweight Logan jean from Rag & Bone is the perfect summer jean. Of course, you can wear it in any season, but this pair is ideal for wearing with a T-shirt, a white button-down, or a thin cashmere sweater on a chilly night at the beach.
I can wear them with sneakers (Sambas are my favorite), loafers, Birkenstocks, and sandals.
This pair from the Rag & Bone denim collection has a slightly wider leg and fits the current jeans trends with the high waist. Relaxed jeans are perfect for summer.
Straight-Leg Jeans
The Bev Jean from Alex Mill

Cotton Twill Shirt Jacket & Tee-Shirt from Eileen Fisher // Loafers from The Office of Angela Scott // Bev Jeans from Alex Mill
I raved about these jeans from the first time I tried them on. (Read more in this post). They are the closest fit I can find to wearing my husband’s vintage Levis. They have a button fly and not a lot of stretch. I wear these jeans at least four times a week! They quickly became a closet staple. A pair of blue jeans that goes with everything from a graphic tee and Birkenstock Boston clogs to a tweed blazer and my favorite pair of loafers from The Office of Angela Scott.
Big Cuff Jeans
The Maisy Relaxed Cuff Mid-Rise Straight-Leg Jeans by Pilcro from Anthropologie

Black Blazer from J. Crew (similar) // Maisy Relaxed Cuff Jeans from Anthropologie // Loafers from The Office of Anglea Scott // Stripe Tee from KULE
One last pair that I was insistent in finding to add to this post on denim trends is the jeans with an exaggerated cuff. This will probably not be a pair I wear as much as the others, but I think this is the pair for a more dressed-up denim look. I love it in dark-wash denim. I wear it with an oversized blazer or just my usual black blazer from J.Crew, which I bought about ten years ago at the J.Crew Collection store on Madison Avenue.
I love the big cuff jeans, Annie! I also really need to try a pair of Alex Mill Denim, as I am such a fan of their other pieces!
I love that outfit with the large cuffs…so polished yet relaxed.I want those Bev jeans!
Thanks for getting us together for something like denim that everyone loves.
Hi Annie
My favorites on you are the Alex Mill. They look classic, a style you can wear for years. I have been tempted to try Rag and Bone jeans. I really like most everything they do! Great post
Cindy! I’ve always had at least one pair of Rag & Bone…always the most trendy pair in my closet…but also my most favorite pair…until they go out! haha
Thank you Annie lovely resources. I love Levi Wedgie jeans especially for petites.
Francesca! I feel like I heard about those on a list of favorite jeans….was it it in the New York Times? I need to try on…if they have tall. The name kind of throws me off though! haha
Annie you found some really cute jeans. I love the wide leg light colored ones on you. I agree I want a thinner jean in summer and they’re hard to find. You also look chic in the large cuff. I think that look is so cute! Fun post.
Kim! You would rock a pair of these! xx
I love the concept of featherweight jeans (Rag & Bone) because denim does get hot in the summer. Have you seen any featherweight styles with straight legs or a little less volume?
I haven’t, but with the price of the Rag & Bone, I think I need to do a deep dive and see if I can come up with a few options! Laugh weight jeans are so great for summer!
I was so excited to check out the feather weight Rag & Bone jeans, which I’ve wanted for many summers. I love everything about them, style and color and I know Rag & Bone is known for high fashion and quality. But with tax, $300 is totally out of my budget. I hope other companies will take notice and make feather weight jeans! Thanks for showing them, at least I can watch and hope they might go on sale soon!
I hope so too! I’m also hoping they hold up since they are so thin…It’s what I love about them, but I’ll have to take very good care of them and wash on gentle!
Annie, you look classic and stylish in every look!
Thanks you so much Elizabeth! xo
This has been wonderful – I don’t have to spend hours in dressing rooms trying to get the right brands and terminology to use for what I’m looking for! Thank you!
I love the lightweight jeans and hope to find a pair that has some structure and fits my petite frame — and my budget. And I need jeans for real life and not just looks. I find rolled-up cuffs pick up sand (from the beach), and even dust from city streets. I always uncuff my jeans before going into the house to avoid bringing anything in – LOL.
