This week, for Sunday Favorites with Cindy and Mary Ann, I am talking about Alex Mill jeans for that perfect vintage look and feel. Ever since I started wearing my husband’s vintage Levi’s while traveling in France, I have been searching for the perfect pair of vintage jeans.
I didn’t even know I wanted vintage jeans until I wore his, and then I became obsessed with finding a pair of my own…because they are his favorite, too, and he was not ready to give them up.
For about two years, I tried vintage shops in Paris, Lyon, NYC, and Lisbon and had no luck in finding a pair that I loved or even liked.
I also tried new Levi’s and jeans from all the major retailers but had no luck finding the perfect-fitting jeans. I was searching for men’s jeans with a worn-in wash with that perfect vintage fit. I also tried women’s jeans, looking for that perfect fit. What I did not want was just another pair of jeans to put in my small closet and not wear.
I was very excited when I heard that Alex Mill was launching denim with three fits. The reason is was so enthusiastic about this is because my favorite everyday pant is the Neil from Alex Mill that I own in two colors. I wear them every week, all year long. They were my first purchase from the brand and have my favorite fit. It is slightly high-waisted, has patch pockets, and looks great with everything from a t-shirt to my favorite Nico cardigan.

Alex Mill Jeans in Three Fits
No one type of denim is going to work for everyone, so they took what they love about their own favorites and created three different fits. All of their jeans are made in Los Angeles.
I went to the store in SoHo thinking I would walk away with the men’s jeans since my favorite pair is an old pair of Brent’s Levis. But as soon as I walked in and saw the jeans, I knew I had to try them all on. I was looking for classic vintage jeans and wanted a fit that was as comfortable as my favorite pair of everyday pants, the Neil.
The Carla High-Rise Straight
The Calra High-Rise has a button fly and straight leg and comes in a medium blue and dark blue vintage wash.
The Bev Hipslung Relaxed
The Bev Hipslung Relaxed jean has a straight leg, and button fly and are designed for that timeless classic vintage pair of jeans look. Comes in two washes. They suggest sizing up for that hip-slung look.
I did size up to a size 30 for a more relaxed look. I could not be happier with the Bev, and I no longer feel the need to steal Brent’s favorite pair of jeans!
The Amber Mid-Rise
The Amber Mid-Rise has a slightly slimmer leg, is a little bit cropped (in my opinion), and has a button fly. Perfect for pairing with a ballet flat or loafer and a men’s shirt. I saw this look all over Paris in September but didn’t have the right jeans.
Free Shipping and Free Returns on Jeans
Alex Mill has two retail locations in New York City—one in SoHo and the other on Manhattan’s Upper East Side on Madison Avenue. So, if you are not local to NYC, they offer free shipping and free returns to find the right iconic pair of timeless jeans.

A Dress from Anthropologie
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen the shirt dress that I wore to an event in NYC. It’s this shirt dress by Corey Lynn Calter. Since it’s February, I wore it with brown tights, oxfords, and a tweed jacket.
Slate Flosser
Can you imagine not using an electric toothbrush? Slate Electric Flosser is an electric flosser. It’s designed by a dentist and helps users get to those hard to those hard-to-reach areas. Now that I’ve started using it, just like my electric toothbrush, I can’t imagine returning to regular floss. Click here to order yours.
A Sweet French Movie: Populaire
Last weekend, Madeine invited me to stay over. We went to a cute wine bar in her neighborhood and then returned to her darling apartment for take-out and a movie. We were tempted to watch Past Lives, but we had just watched it on her way back from Portugal. You can see her apartment in this post.
Then she remembered a movie she had seen while studying in Tours, France, in her junior year of college. It’s called Populaire, and it’s adorable!
DIY Party Shoes from Thistlewood Farm
I saw Kari Anne’s post about using shoe clips (like it’s the 1950s again)! She transformed a pair of shoes into party shoes with a simple clip. I’m filing this away for weddings! Check out her post right here!

Love that you have your own pair of fave jeans now. It would be so funny to see me in Howard’s jeans. Thanks for this new to me source! I want that flosser!

Well fitting Jeans are quite difficult to find! I have to try on dozens….a couple of years ago i bought vintage men’s Levi’s but being short i had to cut the hems and they were too oversized for my short curvy frame. You are taller so they work.
I dislike stretchy denim as they bag.
I finally found a good pair by MNG straight leg, ankle length which means no hemming!!! Win Win

Dear Annie,
“The dress” is YOU!! The color, the style, the class. You must have felt so comfortably at home wearing it.
Thank you for rerunning the apartment post. Next month we will be helping our son with MS move into a more appropriate one bedroom apartment and I can hardly wait to show him Madeline’s use of space. It will be a launching place for ideas because he is very creative.
I had so much fun making the Valentine cones for friends on our retirement living condo floor. Many said it was the most clever valentine they’ve ever received and I gave you full credit. Thank you.
Enjoy this spring’s cherry blossoms

Hi Annie
Those jeans look fabulous on you, and you looked gorgeous in that dress from Anthro!! The movie sounds like fun. I forgot to get my rhinestone shoe clips out this year! I didn’t think about them until after the holidays! Thanks for reminding me!
