Are you looking for an easy spring centerpiece to DIY in 15 minutes or less? And maybe even use what you have on hand? Well, I have just the thing that was made out of necessity.
I had a few friends over for an early dinner, and I didn’t have time to get flowers before their arrival. But I wanted something to use as a centerpiece.
Today, I’m joining a few friends for spring crafts, and my simple centerpiece is just too good not to share when you need a very last-minute idea to add a little decor to your table.
We always think of florals when it comes to centerpieces, but candlelight is even more important than flowers or greenery. Every elegant table, no matter how casual or rustic, needs candlelight.
Here’s what you will need to make this pretty spring centerpiece
These are so easy to make; it’s not like you need a tutorial, but here’s how I put them together. As simple as they are, I think they turned out almost Pinterest-worthy; what do you think?
- Small clay pots or some other small vessel to hold a candle
- Soil, sand, or small stones to hold the candle (no hot glue necessary for this one)
- Preserved moss
- Taper candles
- Small grapevine wreaths or birch twig wreaths
How to assemble the centerpiece candle holders
- Place a flat stone in the bottom of each clay pot
- Fill each pot with soil, sand, or small rocks to keep the taper in place. Position the taper in the center
- Use store-bought mini grapevine wreaths or make your birch twig wreaths. You can read about how to do that in this post. (You could use floral foam, but I prefer to use something more natural)
- Top each clay pot with a wreath.
- Fill in with a little of the preserved moss.
- Add some quail eggs if you like, or leave them as is with the clay pot, moss, and taper.
How to use your easy 15-minute spring centerpiece for your tablescape
Line the spring table
Depending on how many you made, you could line your dining room table with the clay pots as your centerpiece. Make a dozen, or even just three to five, and line them down the table on a runner or pretty tablecloth.
Place one at each place setting
You could also use them at place settings, saving room for serving family-style in the center of the table. Each guest could take one home, too!
Arrange on a tray
I used this tray from Terrain to add an element of rustic and modern to the spring centerpiece idea. I mixed in a Bergs pot with a lovely Maidenhair fern and the twisty tapers in neutral shades. Small bud vases mixed in would look pretty, too!
Use table linens and glassware to compliment the spring tablescape
I use these soft pink plaid napkins in almost every tablescape I create. I used them for spring decor ideas at Christmas (read the post here) and now. These purple bee glasses are far more versatile than I imagined! Perfect for brunch, lunch or dinner.

So clever and attractive as always!
Cindy has an oyster shell decoration on her blog today. I have hundreds of shells and thought this would be fun to make. Do you have any idea what the center is — maybe a Styrofoam ball or some such? Thanks, Maeve

What a wonderful easy table decoration – I don’t have any twisty candles, but I’ll try to do it with regular candles. Thanks for the idea!
