Tina Thompson Home Tour with Most Lovely Things
Today I’m sharing the home of Tina Thompson. Tina joined Instagram just a year ago, and yet I feel like I already know her. The way she shares her home, her fashion, and glimpses of her day makes you feel like you’re hanging out with a friend. She’s a natural storyteller — and after spending an hour on the phone with her, hearing the backstory of how it all started, one thing was clear: she is authentically, completely Tina.
Here is my interiew with Tina:
Have you always worked in a creative field?
Tina was a stay-at-home mom, and when her boys went away to college, she knew she needed to reinvent herself. She went on to work as a stylist in a home design store for eight years before starting her own Instagram account a year ago. It was actually her daughters-in-law who encouraged her to do it. “This is what we see,” they told her, “and now everyone sees it!” Tina’s personality and storytelling are what make her account so compelling — she’s creative, funny, kind, and now we all get a glimpse into her life. She says they only ever do one take when filming for Instagram, and I think that’s part of her charm. She’s completely comfortable in her own skin and knows exactly who she is.
Describe your style in three words.
“Let’s call it Tomboy Classic with a Twist.”
How long have you lived in your current home?
Tina and her husband — married almost 40 years — moved into the house three years ago as they downsized. She calls him “super supportive,” and it’s clear that spirit carried into how they built this next chapter of their life together.

Where do you find your inspiration?
Tina says she has boxes of torn pages from magazines and design books. These days it’s mostly Pinterest, but there’s something about curling up with a stack of old magazines that Pinterest just can’t replace.
What is your home’s biggest challenge?
“I really love this house,” Tina says — but it functions a bit like a condo in that she can’t install an invisible fence for the dogs. They have to be leashed every time they go outside.
The Kitchen
What’s your biggest indulgence?
When they bought the house, Tina and her husband wanted to make it exactly their own. They renovated every bathroom, gutted the kitchen down to the studs, and installed hardwood floors throughout. Tina loves the thrill of the hunt, so all of their appliances are seconds — she knew right away when she spotted the red kitchen stove that it was the one.
What do you collect? Do you have a favorite collection?
“This is a hard one,” she admits. Her real weakness is anything old with a patina — she loves repurposing pieces that already have a story of their own.
You can see a few of Tina’s old metal boxes, wicker trunks, crocks, vintage bowls, art, trays, and boat bags throughout her home. She says she loves to repurpose items and use them for storage.
Loft + Office
Every collected home has some element of DIY. What DIY project are you most proud of?
When designing the upstairs loft/office, Tina was working with a large cutout window that opened straight down to the floor below. She added a window that still lets the light pour in, but makes the space feel cozier — and safer for the dogs. The sofas beneath it were actually a clearance find, marked down because the set was missing its corner piece. Tina saw the potential anyway, and used them along one wall of the loft, separated by a narrow table in the middle.
Another clever DIY: she topped a pair of low Ikea tables with salvaged slate roof tiles, now sitting beneath the gallery wall in the living room.

The Screened-in Porch
What is your favorite element in your home?
The screened-in porch. They never had one before, and it’s become her peaceful spot — she works out there, has her coffee and every day she and her husband share happy hour on the porch together. Hands-down her favorite feature.

Tina is wearing a denim shirt and jeans from L’Agence. She often shows styling outfits in her guest room woith twin beds where she uses old doors rather than traditional headboards.
