Make this simple hand-drawn Mother’s Day gift wrap inspired by Bonne Maman jam jars using supplies you have on hand! If you have kraft paper, a paper bag, and a Sharpie, you can make this gift wrap in about 10 minutes!
Today I’m sharing a few favorite books that inspire me and a fun and easy way to gift-wrap them!
Bonne Maman means “good mom”
I’ve done a version of this several times at different times of the year. I drew only a single jar on the front of the package. This time I drew Bonne Maman jars in different sizes all over the paper in a pattern like regular gift wrap. Homemade gift wrap is more fun, and why buy gift wrap when you can make it with paper bags!?
The Supplies You’ll Need
- Kraft paper or brown paper bags
- Sharpie paint pen or Posca Paint Pens.
- Gel pen in white
- Maybe a few Bonne Maman jars and French cups for inspiration
- Metal flowers from Terrain
I like to actually get a few jars out to study and hold in my hands before I start drawing. I am slightly obsessed with jars with words embossed into the glass, and the shape of Bonne Maman is so lovely. And Bonne Maman means “good mom” – Isn’t that so sweet? Perfect for wrapping up presents for Mom!
Terrain has metal garland and posies that can be cut to use on several gifts or wreaths or leave them as is for a vase or hang the garland as we did here.

My favorite gifts to give and receive are books.
Aside from their inspiration, the wonderful thing about books is that they are so nice and easy to wrap.

Comrad Compression Socks
I’ve mentioned Comrad compression socks before to use for travel. They were kind enough to send me a few pairs to try, and I love the ankle socks. I would not have thought to order compression ankle socks with sneakers, but they are life-changing. I tried wearing them the first time when we did one of our 10-mile NYC walks, and I really noticed a difference at the end of the day. Now I wear them almost daily. My feet miss them when I don’t! A very pretty floral blouse that you’ll wear with everything
I know, I know…floral for spring, groundbreaking…or whatever that line is from “The Devil Wears Prada,” but this one is special. It feels feminine with the smocked cuffs but is easy to wear since it’s a pullover. I have worn it with black jeans, a chore coat, white jeans, and a denim jacket under a long cream sweater and jeans…I wear it with everything in my closet! It’s a little pricey, but it feels so good, and every time I put it on, I love it more. It’s made by ba&sh.
The ba&sh floral blouse is sold out, but this is an updated version of the ba&sh printed split-neck blouse. The black shirt has floral embroidery reminiscent of a bandana pattern. The bottom left is a Liberty print shirt with a more tailored look.

An Annie Shop!!! I love it. Funny that you and I are both thinking about books right now.
I’m excited to see your new shop. What a fabulous idea!!
PS. Who wouldn’t love a gift in that wrapping?!!! I would not want to throw it away though.
Oh my that gift wrap is adorable!! You gave me a couple great ideas for books too!! If only I had your artistic ability!!
Hi Annie!
Happy May Day. I hope your day is filled with flowers, not just on your shirt but everywhere!
You are always so creative, and I admire that you take the time to make ordinary things a little more special. The jam jar repeating design is clever and fun! And, I never realized what Bonne Maman meant. Now I’ll always remember and think of you, when I spread their apricot jam!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Annie I’m excited for you to have a shop. An excellent idea as you always have an eye for the coolest things no one else does! I can’t wait. This wrap with the Bonne Maman jars is darling. Much more fun making unique wrap. I dig pressed glass jars and just found some new ones from Italy at Whole Foods. I will have to find it and send you the brand. I also have some of the very old Ball caning jars from my grandmother. B&sh is one of my favorite new brands and this blouse is so pretty! Very Annie! They make some cool pieces. I just bought their black sleeveless t-shirt which is the perfect cut. Hope you have a great week Annie. xo
Annie, you are so creative. I frequently use craft paper to wrap gifts but I never thought to draw on it, perhaps because I am horrible at it. I am no artist.
I too have been posting and ordering new books! I love books, especially ones about home.
Looking forward to your new shop!
Have an amazing week.
Annie! A shop! How exciting! I can’t wait to hear more … and to shop, of course. I love your wrapping paper and the drawn jars … you’re so talented. My mom would have loved this and probably not opened the gift so she could admire the beauty of the presentation. She loved books too though, so she would have been conflicted. 😉 xo
