I know this tartine looks more like toast. But technically speaking, since a tartine is an open-faced sandwich, I’m taking the liberty to call it a caramelized banana and chocolate tartine.
I’ve always loved a quick and easy 10-minute breakfast. Or, in this case, a quick and easy 10-minute treat that doubles as breakfast. It’s perfect for those mornings when you just want something sweet and satisfying without spending an hour in the kitchen. And who doesn’t love the combination of chocolate and bananas, right?

Easy Caramelized Banana and Chocolate Tartine
Easy caramelized banana and chocolate tartine is perfect for a 10-minute breakfast, snack, or treat.
- Prep Time: 5
- Cook Time: 5
- Total Time: 10 minutes
- Yield: 2 servings 1x
- Category: Tartine
- Cuisine: Breakfast
Ingredients
- 2 slices of bread
- 1 1/2 bananas sliced
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup
- 1/2 tablespoon unsalted butter
- Pinch of flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Slice the bananas into small circles approximately 1/2″ thick and set aside in a bowl.
- Put the bread in the toaster and toast. Or, over medium-high heat, melt some butter in a skillet. When the butter has melted and turned light brown, lay the bread in the skillet and toast until done. You can toast both sides but I only toast one side.
- Over medium heat, add the coconut oil and cinnamon to a non-stick frying and stir until the mixture is combined.
- Place the bananas in the frying pan and drizzle with the maple syrup. Cook until they begin to caramelize. Using a fork, turn the banana slices over and cook the other side until caramelized. Remove from heat.
- Spread a layer of the almond chocolate spread on each slice of toast.
- Place the caramelized banana slices in a single layer on the toast, sprinkle with the flaky sea salt, and serve immediately.
Notes
I used the Trader Joe’s almond and chocolate spread but you can use Nutella or whatever kind of nut and chocolate spread you prefer.
