Here’s why you want to try Vietnamese egg coffee right now!

Here’s why you want to try Vietnamese egg coffee right now! It’s coffee and dessert and it takes about 5 minutes tops! As soon as I saw this on Bon Appétit, I knew I had to try it! We all need a fast dessert idea in our back pocket, right?
Today I join my dear friends Cindy Hattersley and Mary Ann Pickett to share our favorite finds of the week as we do every Sunday. We are all so saddened by the situation in Ukraine. I’ve included a link to where you can donate. I’m sure there are many organizations that are accepting donations, this is the one I donated to.
What is Vietnamese egg coffee?

It’s a silky concoction of a sweet creamy egg mixture on top of dark coffee. It’s strong coffee topped with whipped eggs sweetened with condensed milk.
What kind of Coffee do you use for Vietnamese Egg coffee?
Traditionally, this coffee is made using a press or Vietnamese Coffee Filter. French market coffee like Cafe du Mond is often used as it is very strong.

What other kind of cofee can I use to make egg coffee?
Well, we don’t have this kind of press, so we used two shots of espresso. It makes it very easy and it was delicious. We are always improvising, because when I see something I want to try, I want to try it right away! You could also use a French Press.
What about using Raw Eggs?
It’s very important to use fresh eggs when making egg coffee.
What is the history of Egg Coffee?
Egg coffee was created by a man named Nguyen Giang while he was a bartender for a large hotel. In 1947 when there was a milk shortage, he got creative and invented the egg coffee. Today he has a cafe in Hanoi that’s still serving the popular egg coffee.

New favorite T-shirts and other finds from Lululemon
I am always in search of the perfect t-shirt. I only wear crew necks and I am very picky about the neck. I often wear t-shirts as a layering piece, so it’s very important the neckline works with sweaters, or whatever I’m wearing. These from Lululemon check all the boxes. I bought a long sleeve and two short sleeves, perfect for travel or workout wear. I recommend sizing down. They do run quite large.
These wool scarves are on sale for $30. I bought the pink/peach woven wool scarf to wear with my Everlane Mac Trench Coat. I also bought the tan woven wool scarf to wear with all my neutrals. Perfect for travel or for spring if you live where it’s cold.
On Shoes
Everyone has been talking about On shoes. This is the brand that Roger Federer wears. I got a pair by accident this week and I absolutely love them. What I did not realize about On shoes is how lightweight they are, making them the perfect travel shoe.
Patrick ordered a pair through Zappos right before leaving on a work trip. They arrived on Sunday and he called to say they are way too small. Hmmmmm, he inadvertently ordered a size 11 in women. I quickly stopped by Nordstrom and luckily they had a men’s size 11 and now we are both happy! I didn’t even realize are both a size 11.

Light & Airy Presets
Light & Airy Presets make editing photos so much easier and it’s fast too! I like clean, crisp photos and I want editing photos to be easy! I’ve been using presets for my still photos for a couple of years and just downloaded presets for video!
Use ANNIE25 for 25% off all Light & Airy Prodcuts.
Here’s a before & after using the Vivid Bright Preset

I use Lightroom where I have presets and all within one app, I can lighten the photo and a few other adjustments at the same time. On this photo, I selected Vivid Bright and then reduced the exposure slightly. I also used the straightening tool. Editing photos is very much a personal preference, but even when using a preset, you can adjust the exposure, contrast, and many other things to get the photo just the way you like it. And the best part is that you can do this on your phone in just a few seconds!
Our Hearts are with the People of Ukraine

I don’t need to tell you how sad and scared I am for the people of Ukraine. I’ve seen several people post about where you can donate. I’ve decided to follow Smitten Kitchen and donate to World Central Kitchen. @wckitchen is on the ground, feeding those who are fleeing Ukraine. A donation of any amount helps these efforts.
Annie that dessert looks delicious! I might even be able to make that one! Thank you for reminding us to donate to the Ukraine. I am so saddened by the whole state of affairs. Another great Sunday round up! I am off to move boxes to Paso. Yesterday we dragged them all out of the basement, today we haul them down to the new house!
Thank you for posting about Ukraine. There is many organizations and banks accepting donations for the Ukraine military too. One is JP Morgan Chase. Many more in Europe.
May have to try the egg coffee. Have you had an affogato? It is expresso coffee with a scoop of gelato added to it. It is a treat too.
Enjoying your posts!
Hi Marcia! Yes! Many wonderful and trusted organizations where we can donate. We have tried affogato and loved it! We were on quite an affogato kick early on during the pandemic when our kids were home for five months!
Wow…I want to make the egg coffee for breakfast right now! Thanks for showing me where to donate to Ukrainians. Our city hall was in blue and yellow too.
My On shoes are my favorites in my closet!
Love WCK and the good work they do. My husband and I volunteered to help assemble and deliver meals for them when they arrived in Ventura County after the Thomas Fire in 2017. It was an honor to do so.
Lots of great ideas in this post – thank you! Those presets look very appealing! I recently became aware of the Lightroom app and downloaded the Lightroom Mobile app (free version) on my phone. I’m having a hard time using it however. Do you by chance know of any tutorials (video or written) that might help me out? I looked on YouTube but the ones I found seem to assume a basic level of knowledge that I don’t have! Thanks!
Caroline,
I think the lightroom app is what I am using and then I uploaded the presets to the LR app. I’m not sure of any tutorials, but I’ll look around. CAn you tell me more specifically what you are having trouble with??

Thank you Annie for a great post! Donating now!
Thank you Sherry for reading!! xx
Annie,
Such a great post. I love my On shoes. I will be shopping for another pair this spring.
The photo app is amazing.
Thank you for always providing such great information.
Karen B.
Hi Karen,
You will love that photo app! It’s so fun to edit photos and you have the best eye!!
xx
HELP I thought the presets you were suggesting to purchase were different from ones I already have on the same app. I purchased and now cannot get them added. Any suggestions? Can I get a refund? Kicking myself for doing this but you convinced me making it sound so easy to do.
Disregard above. I finally figured it out! WHEW! Very proud of myself!
Teresa! Oh, I am so glad you figured it out! Does that mean you were able to download the presets? I hope so. I think you will love using them!
Thank you for including Ukraine in today’s post. The photo of Grand Central Terminal glowing blue and gold in the darkness conveys the stark suffering of Ukraine’s men, women and children. I hope each person who reads your post will take a minute of silence in prayer or thought for the innocents suffering at the whim of a hateful madman.
It is so sad, we cannot stop watching the news! It is amazing to hear the stories of people helping strangers.
xo
YES, A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE SAYING STOP PRAYING AND DONATE MONEY AS THAT REALLY CAN HELP!
NICE OF YOU TO MENTION THAT!
AS FAR AS THE APPS WHERE YOU HAVE TO PAY………I USE THE ONES ON THE IPHONES AND RARELY DO AS IF THE PICURE IS GOOD THERE IS NO NEED TO CHANGE IT!
SOME PEOPLE GO WAY TOO FAR AS ONE CAN TELL THEY HAVE MESSED AROUND WITH IT.
I think it’s a MARKETING thing………another way to convince the public they need another APP!

You are probably right, but I do love the bright, crisp photos! For the price and ease of editing and supporting a small business, I think I’ll keep it up! xx
The situation in Ukraine is just devastating and getting more so by the day. I love what Chef Andre is doing there and all over the world. We need more heroes like him. Love the Light & Airy presets, but don’t think I have the vivid and bright. It’s marvelous. I’ll check it out. xo
So intriguing! I’ve never heard of using eggs in coffee – I now of course must try it!
