Why Jean Jackets Never Go Out of Style

I’m joining a few friends today to discuss denim jackets and why jean jackets never go out of style.
Denim jackets have been around for decades. A Denim jacket, jean jacket, or whatever you want to call it, is a staple in your wardrobe at any age and in any season.
A Jean Jacket is a Reliable Choice in Outwear

A jean jacket can be worn in any season. It’s the perfect spring jacket, even in the summer; a jean jacket over a dress, with a skirt, shorts, white jeans, regular denim jeans, and black pants. They can be worn with solids and prints and even denim on denim.
How I wear a jean jacket to transition from winter to spring

It’s still chilly where I live, and I can’t quite put away the sweaters, but I like to layer a cashmere sweater under a denim jacket to make the look a little more spring-like. Plus, a denim jacket is a perfect layer to add a little warmth under a trench.
In the spring, it’s all about layers. A denim or a jean jacket is the perfect layer. I often wear a bandana or a thin scarf at the neck. It adds an extra layer or accessory to pull an outfit together.
Out of necessity, I add a trench coat. I ordered the black denim jacket in a medium tall from GAP so that I can layer it under coats. Typically I wear a Large Tall from GAP if I don’t intend to layer a coat over it. I also like the medium when wearing it with a long skirt. GAP denim jackets are incredibly well-priced, so having a few for different occasions makes sense. I wash and wear mine, and they get a little softer after each wash making them even more comfortable and easier to pack for travel!
How to make your jean jacket an extra special piece in your wardrobe

When we decided to do a post on jean jackets, we thought it would be interesting to introduce an artist that does custom embroidery on jean jackets and just about anything you can think of that you would want to add a special or personal touch.

I first introduced Meredith in this post. We all loved her work, so when we decided to talk about jean jackets today, we all thought it would be fun to team up with Meredith of Mermade Brooklyn. We each worked with Meredith individually to come up with something unique.
I always incorporate my last name (Diamond) in some way. For this project, I chose small daisies (the friendliest flower according to Kathleen Kelly), and we added a small diamond emoji. I love how Meredith used threads with shiny silver fibers just for the Diamond!
Adidas Sambas look great with jean jackets.
I have two pairs of Adidas Sambas. A black pair and a white pair that looks good with almost everything. If you’ve ever wanted a comfortable, supportive sneaker that feels good right out of the box and goes with everything from black pants to midi skirts, try on a pair of Sambas. Mine is called the Samba OG Shoe, which comes in three colors: Cloud White, Core Black, and Gum. I have a large foot- 10.5-11, so I am very sensitive to what a shoe looks like from a size perspective. Sambas have a way of looking sleek, even with a dress or skirt. I follow a darling fashion & lifestyle creator that wears them a lot…and they do look good with everything. Check out @holliemercedes to see what I mean.
About Meredith of Mermade Brooklyn
Here’s more information about Meredith in her own words because they are so beautiful. Every time I wear my jackets, I have people ask about the embroidery…it does make each piece special!
“Mermade Brooklyn is a one-woman shop committed to providing beautiful, handmade, one-of-a-kind creations. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, I began my career as an actress with stops along the way as a photo editor, teacher, and mother(favorite role to date). I have always had an interest in art, fashion, and home design. I have been inspired by my mother, Robin, a painter, masterful knitter, and embroiderer who always encouraged me to see the flowers. I will embroider just about anything I can push my needle through – including, but not limited to, sneakers and vintage photographs.
I love to collaborate with people to give them something special. I have made personalized pillows, incorporated heirloom lace and beads for special wedding hankies, embellished baby sweaters knit by a loving grandma, loads of bibs, baby denim jackets, hats, college sweatshirts, tea towels, and vintage linens. My mother always taught me that details matter; I have taken this lesson to heart. I handle each piece with love and care and hope it is used and enjoyed for many years.”

Happy week xo
Hello Francesca! It really does add something special to an ordinary GAP denim jacket or a pair of jeans! And her work is so well done that even my jeans hold up wash after wash!
Thanks for stopping by today!
xx
Annie
The photographs and styling are top notch. Thank you for introducing us to Meredith. I am dreaming of what all I can have her do! She is such a talent!
Such a beautiful post! Meredith is so talented. As always, you look incredibly chic, Annie!
Jennifer! Meredith does beautiful work, maybe for you and your daughter! xx
Is there anyone more stylish than you? I love the look and love the setting – how very clever! And so much love for my sweet dear friend Meredith – thank you for sharing her with the world; she is such a talent! xoxo
Annie, you’re always so creative and I love the idea of layering a denim jacket under a trench. It’s perfect for spring and looks tres chic. And I never thought of washing my denim jackets either … what’s wrong with me? I’m going to toss mine in the machine tonight. I bet it makes a big difference in the (lack of) softness of the fabric. Several years ago I tragically left my favorite denim jacket behind at a concert. Never to be seen again. I’m still upset about it. It was unique and I’ve not been able to find anything else like it. Anyhoo, I love this post topic and can’t wait to see what Mary Ann, Cindy and Sheri are doing with their denim. xo
Juliet, so do you send your jackets to the dry cleaners? I have to admit, I’ve never thought about doing that. HA I guess that’s why you are more polished than me!
What a shame to have lost your favorite denim jacket!!! I only hope your jacket has gone on and you had another life with someone as kind as you!
xx
Great look. I love every piece. Especially that orange coat over it all. You got style I need a new jacket ad new shoes. Thanks for the ideas.
