Create a Spring Centerpiece Using Cabbage as a Vase
I created a spring floral centerpiece using purple cabbage as a vase for something a little different. It’s easy and perfect for any spring table. You could use smaller purple cabbage or larger green cabbage to make this spring flower arrangement.

What you will need to make a cabbage vase arrangement for your Easter tablescape
- Small red cabbage (I used small purple cabbage, but you could make larger cabbage to hold cut hydrangeas or tulips.
- Sharp knife or paring knife
- Seasonal flowers
- A glass jar with fresh water

Easy steps to make a diy cabbage vase

- Cut the bottom of the cabbage so it will lie flat on your table.
- Using a sharp knife, cut out the center of the cabbage. I cut a circle in the center of the top of the cabbage and used a fork to help remove the center of the cabbage.
- Once you have made a cavity in the cabbage, insert a small jar or cup to hold water.
- Remove the outer leaves of the hollowed cabbage.
- Cut flower stems short and arrange in the cabbage vase.
- Since the cup or jar is small and holds only a little water, add water as needed to keep your floral arrangement fresh.
- Alternatively, you could use a small potted plant. A maidenhair fern would be beautiful.

This diy centerpiece is similar to pumpkin planters!
Both pumpkins and cabbages make beautiful flower vases. Like pumpkins, cabbages come in different sizes and colors. Use succulents or hydrangeas to make a larger green cabbage vase. Small cabbages are like mini pumpkins–use fresh or dried flowers.
