Where to Stay, Shop & Swim if You Go to Penzance, Cornwall
A few years ago, I became acquainted with a shop owner in the UK. She owns a lovely little shop in Penzance, Cornwall, and I recently discovered that she now offers holiday rentals that she has lovingly renovated and designed. Book directly with the owner and use code ‘Lovely20’ for 20% off your stay. Click here to find out more.
Charlotte has impeccable taste, and you may have seen me sharing her shop window and shelves in stories on my Instagram from time to time.. You will definitely want to follow her if you love cozy cottages or coastal design. She’s brilliant at both. In addition to her shop and holiday rentals, she also owns a design firm, Tin Coast Design. @tincoastdesign
Ever since we “met,” I have wanted to visit Penzance. She often shares her seaside walks with her cute little dogs and morning swims in the saltwater pool on Instagram. So, for Sunday favorites with Mary Ann and Cindy today, I thought I would share a bit about the holiday rentals, the shop, and the beautiful seaside town. Have you been to this area? It’s high on my list of places to visit. I suspect many of you have already been?
A Day in Penzance: Seaside Walks, Design Finds, and a Dip in the Jubilee Pool
Penzance — a small town with a lot of character and great light. With its long promenade, independent shops, and a historic saltwater pool.
Jubilee Pool: Saltwater and Simple Joys

The holiday rental is just a 10-minute walk to the Jubilee Pool — an open-air saltwater lido built in the 1930s, right on the edge of the bay. It’s one of those places that feels like it’s from another era, in the best way. Clean lines, soft colors, and that unmistakable Art Deco style. There’s also a geothermal pool if you’re not up for a chilly swim.
A pool is high on our list when we travel. Somehow, if we can’t take a dip in a pool or the ocean, it doesn’t feel like vacation. I love that this pool has such a rich history, and a warm pool is always a treat. In Paris, we stay at the Mob House Hotel, which has a gorgeous outdoor pool. In London, we stay at the Town Hall Hotel, where they have a beautiful pool in the basement.
Tin Coast Design Shop: Thoughtful, Local Finds
Tin Coast Design Shop. It’s a small shop, but beautifully curated — ceramics, textiles, prints. The kind of shop where you want to pick up everything but settle on just one or two pieces that feel special.

The Georgian Flat
The first rental is a three-bedroom, two-bath home that sleeps five. It would be ideal for both short-term and long-term rentals. I could see spending the winter here! Or at least a month.

Make sure to check out her other rentals here.

From left to right: Mallora Pool and Beach Stripe Towels // Perle Bowls // Montecito Outdoor Pillow // Bar Harbor Canister // Flynn Sconce // Seersucker Napkins // Beach Umbrella // Scallop Rattan Basket // Carter Chair // Zafferano Table Lamp with Raffia Weather Friendly Wicker Lamp Shade // Azores Sconce // French Martini Table // Cayman Glassware, Pitcher // Ives Flatware Caddy // Nantucket Stripe Linen Sheets // Morro Porcelain Vases // South Seas Side Cart
Many of my favorite pieces in our home and out on the porch are from Serena & Lily. And they are having a 4th of July sale up to 40% off.
I love their lighting, which is mainly from Circa Lighting. Their rattan pieces are well-priced on sale and a great addition to any room, like the South Seas Side Cart or Scallop Rattan Side Table. Both are pieces that can be used in multiple places in the home.
The French Martini Side Table is a versatile piece. I have a similar style table with a marble top, which I’ve used from house to house and room to room. This one is the perfect size for almost anywhere. Mix it with modern to traditional.
Cayman glassware, pitchers, and vases are perfect for summer entertaining. The small Cayman Seagrass Vase is the ideal size for a handful of Montauk daisies or hydrangeas from the yard. On sale for $38! Makes a great host gift with a pillar candle or flowers.
Three stripe dresses I’m loving right now from Quince

Hi Annie,
Wow gorgeous times in Cornwall how wonderful and the rental looks perfect.
I am going to re watch the Cornish TV series “Poldark “ again you have inspired me!
Gorgeous Quince dresses too
Happy summer!
Francesca! I have never heard of the series “Poldark” – I am so glad you mentioned it! Maybe after Wimbeldon is over, I”ll watch! Happy summer to you in beautiful LA!

Hi dear Annie,
Thank you for introducing “Tin Design” because like my mom, I’m a “Cornish Girl”! Years ago, my husband Tom and I spent part of a 6 week sabbatical in Cornwall and I felt at home in countless ways. A wonderful gentleman serving our table on a stormy coastal evening taught us to raise our wine with “fish, tin, copper”! . And, of course, we have several gorgeous pieces of pewter which have special places in our retirement apartment.
It would be so easy to pop over to GB on the “Chunnel” for a short visit to Charlotte’s Cornwall before you begin next year”s “flea market” shopping in France. You will love it
Hugs, Diney on Mercer Island
Diney! I can just picture a stormy night in Cornwall! “Fish, tin, copper!” I love that! I’ll bet every time you seee or use your pewter pieces, it brings you right back to that stormy night. I really must go!
