Sézane New York City
Sézane in the heart of NoLita has undergone a refresh that’s just as lovely as you would imagine. The shop is nestled on a quiet block where, if you are lucky, you can find street parking (for free) right on Elizabeth Street. It’s a wonderful spot to savor a shopping experience like it used to be…I don’t mean to be nostalgic, but shopping used to be much less frenzied. When you step inside a Sézane shop, you instantly feel the hustle and bustle of the city slip away. It’s the perfect spot to shop with daughters, sisters and friends. Both Madeline and I have favorite wardrobe pieces from Sézane in Paris that we purchased last summer.
The café at Sézane
Brass accents and dreamy textured walls
Sézane offers complimentary services like leather monogramming, embroidery, calligraphy, and also things like afternoon tea with Harney’s and Sons. Check the website for exact dates. Last summer I purchased a Will jacket at the Paris shop right around the corner from The Hoxton where we were staying. It was embroidered while I shopped. I chose my last name and a diamond emoji. It’s one of my favorite things to wear and I am always asked about the embroidery. Definitely a fun conversation starter at blogger get-togethers!
Pretty cups & postcards
And while visiting the newly refreshed Sézane in New york City, why not write a postcard or two?
Sézane is the perfect blend of Paris and New York. Set in a beautiful bright and airy storefront in NoLita, Sézane’s L’Appartement New York is the French brand’s first US location.
Sézane is an online-based French fashion retailer, selling everything from sharp jackets to leather boots. We’ve loved Sézane’s style for some time, although it was a visit to their New York brick-and-mortar shop that really got us hooked.
We first visited the NoLita location back in September 2017 for an event with Nichole Robertson, author of New York in Color and Paris in Color, Lindsey Tramuta, author of The New Paris, and Will Taylor, owner of the Bright Bazaar blog. What a lineup! We loved the conversation, which was focused on the relationship between Paris and New York.
Sézane is part cafe and part boutique
At Sézane, the shopping experience includes part browsing racks of carefully edited clothing and accessories and part enjoying the shop’s aesthetic. Plus, in traditional French style, there are charming cafe chairs and tables and coffee from Maman. You can see more about Maman here
It’s all in the details
There are countless details at L’Appartement that make us love Sézane even more. From the tile in the doorway to the coffee cups decorated with the words “Bonjour New York,” all these little things come together to make the shop feel authentically French.Maman is one of our favorite coffee shops in New York. It has a wonderful French influence, so it’s only fitting that it’s served at Sézane. The to-go cups perfectly depict the unique partnership between Paris in New York that the store embodies.
Have you visited Sézane yet? We have always loved both Paris and New York, and despite the sense of competition that seems to exist between the two cities, Sézane embodies the best of both, right here in the US.
Looks amazing! I can’t wait for my next visit to NYC!
Pamela,
