Pink & Green in Home Decor & Fashion

Pink and green always make me think of New Canaan. When we first moved to New Canaan about 25 years ago, I remember being surprised by how much pink people wore and how they decorated their homes with pink and green.

While it can be a little preppy, I still love pink and green. Maybe not always as a combination (although I am not against it), but each color on its own, with more toned-down colors, like brown and navy.

Today, for Sunday Favorites with Mary Ann and Cindy, I thought I would share an idea I have for a pink and green table for Easter, including a centerpiece like this, with green cabbage instead of purple.

A pink & green tablescape for Easter

Various pink and green glassware, plates, mugs, napkisn and placemats.

Is there anything more spring than the color green? It’s what’s to come…green grass, flower stems and leaves and trees leafing out…after the winter we’ve had, spring will be even more welcome than ever!

On the table decor

Mixing my lattice dinner plates with a salad plate, also in green. The Bunny Toile Stoneware Side Plates and mugs would be so cute too!

For napkins, I found these beautiful 100% cotton handblock print napkins in pink and green. It’s also available in a tablecloth.

I love to mix up glassware. I’ll use goblets in one color and a shorter glass for water in another color. These green glasses with a little ruffled edge are gorgeous mixed with something like these, made in France.

Make the cabbage arrangement with Maidenhair fern

This is such a simple idea, but the result is something a little more fun and interesting.

What you will need to make a cabbage vase

  • A head of cabbage
  • A small cup if using flowers
  • A sharp knife
  • A small fern, a spring plant like a pansy, or a mix of spring flowers.

Here’s how to make the cabbage vase

  1. Cut the bottom of the cabbage so it will lie flat on your table.
  2. Using a sharp knife, cut out the center of the cabbage. I cut a circle in the center of the top of the cabbage and used a fork to help remove the core.
  3. Once you have made a cavity in the cabbage, insert a small jar or cup to hold water. (Unless you are adding a tiny plant, then you won’t need water).
  4. Place the fern in the cabbage vase, or use a small cup with water if using flowers.

Pink & Green Decor

It was not difficult to find plenty of inspiration using pink and green decor. A light pink like Pink Ground from Farrow & Ball is gorgeous on walls/ceilings and cabinets/furniture.

In the photo below, I really like the half wall painted green, with a very light shade of pink above. A thin stripe of a darker shade of pink divides the two colors. A hanging pendant in green with a pink cloth cord is a nice touch, too!

Adding some pink and green to your closet

I have a poplin shirt from Alex Mill that I love. It’s made of the best cotton poplin that barely needs ironing or steaming. I always take it with me when I travel, you can wash it out, give it a good shake, and hang to dry. Poplin dries quickly! The Neil pants are my favorite. I have them in three colors! I do not have a pink pair…yet!

  1. Hi Annie,
Love those pink and green rooms, so gorgeous and dreamy. I am going to do your amazing cabbage vases in May when my 93 year old mum comes to visit from England, as a keen gardener she will get such a kick out of them! And those pink pants are lovely. Take care xo

  2. LOVE the colorful loafers. What a great way to add some spark to any outfit.
