You may have noticed that the blog has had a bit of a re-fresh. We are not done yet and we appreciate all the emails with your ideas, compliments as well as the things you don’t like. I agree, the logo is not quite right. And along the way I kind of lost the tag line Live Simply * Live Beautifully. I’m not sure how that happened, but I’m happy that so many of you asked me about that. Because my point of view has not changed from that simple motto. In fact, not at all. The older I get, the more sentimental I become and it’s truly the little things that make me the happiest. Tana of Your Marketing BFF has been working on a new design for the logo and it will be very simple. She has been extremely patient and so helpful through the entire process. Because let’s face it, I just want to make pretty things, photograph them and share them. The technical stuff…not so much.
Today as I was clipping flowers from my neighbor’s friend’s garden without permission, I realized how lucky I am to have a friend that I can do that. Don’t worry, I’m making her favorite cookies right now. I had just removed labels from a few jars and needed flowers for this post. Re-purposed jars for casual vases is my favorite. I’ll be needing them for an upcoming post with Mary Ann, Cindy, Janet and Brooke.
The simplest way I’ve found to remove labels without ruining your manicure is to use hot water and about a cup of Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda. Let the jars soak in a dishpan or the sink filled with water and detergent for about 10 minutes. The labels should remove in one piece pretty easily. Wash, rinse and fill with clean cold water and add flowers. Simple and beautiful. Apartment Therapy uses a slightly different method and turns them into drinking glasses.
Simple and beautiful. And speaking of beautiful…I adore The New Yorker cover for Fall Fashion Week by Gayle Kabaker. I love her photos of the process that became the cover. You can see that on her blog right here.

Well, I actually went on to my ancient Blogger Dashboard and added MLT … ?????? … I’ve gotten so into IG and there is only so much screen time in the day … but I still visit occasionally. I rarely go back and check on a comment I make, so never have an idea when someone I follow responds. ? …
I’ve recently discovered my used Nest candle glass containers as great vases. With a little frog inside, it makes a nice compact arrangement. You can string a few down a table setting and put some votives between. You know, I started buying those years ago at Consider the Cook. I always enjoyed talking to the women that owned/worked in that store. When I go back, enjoy a little catch up with them.

How many manicures have I ruined before this post?? Howard likes to make salad dressing in old jars and I use them for my coconut sugar scrub. And now I have an easy method to remove the labels. You are the best!!

What a great tip! Now I will have fewer jars going in the recycling bin. Thanks for sharing…..;-)
