How to Make Handmade Thank You Notes

|

Make a handmade thank you note with simple supplies like cardstock and a paint pen. That’s really all you need!

Why Homemade Thank You Notes?

Well, I could go on and on about why you might want to make homemade thank-you notes or notes in general, but let me start with the obvious reasons.

A homemade thank you note shows that you care. And if you are taking the time to put pen to paper to write a note, clearly, you do care. So taking the extra time to make a thank you note is an excellent way of showing how much you care.

Making homemade notes can show a little of your personality, or you could personalize them for the recipient with the design.

What if I can’t draw?

Everyone can draw something. Google a topic and search line drawing. For example, when I google flower line drawing images, some simple images that can easily be drawn with a bit of practice will pop up. Some will be straightforward, while others will be far more intricate, but you can pick your own. Try it out on a piece of paper and warm up your hand before starting on your notes.

Find one thing and draw that. A lot. I drew little French cups and Bon Maman jam jars when I started making gift wrap. I drew them on gift wrap and cards, so when it came to making my own thank you notes, I knew it would start with a French cup.

What supplies will I need to make my thank you notes?

A set of 100 cards and envelopes costs about $22-$25, depending on the size you choose. They can be used for thank-you notes, birthday cards, invitations, or anything!

Pens: These are my favorite pens to use for line drawing.

  1. Uni-Ball Broad Point Gel Pen (white)
  2. Tombow Dual Brush Pen N15 (black)

Washi Tape – Use washi tape to block off a text box where you want to save room to write your message. This is especially useful if you do an all-over pattern on your card.
