Inspired by the book cover of Sara Midda’s South of France ~ A Sketchbook, I created a few one of a kind gift tags. Now for true artists, this may seem rather mundane, but with just a few school supplies like simple water colors, a brush and a piece of cream colored construction paper I made cards much like the cover of the book. We are going to France next month and I have been reading and cooking and studying up for the trip. I normally remove the dust jackets from my books…but not this one, how could I? I mounted the paper to a piece of thick water color paper and then cut them using a Fiskar’s paper cutter. Add a piece of twine and attach it to gift.

I love this idea—before I realized that you made the striped paper I was admiring it and wondering where it came from. The stripes are so pretty, I have a ‘thing’ for stripes, I even have a Pinterest board devoted to them, which this idea is now going right on!

These are so simple yet so striking! Love the colors and how you also used the idea to make a book cover as well. I can see this design translating to a whole bunch of paper products. The photos are really evocative as well. -Emily from BYW class (and thank you for coming to have a look and leaving such a nice comment on my blog!)

See this is what I mean about you Annie. You always have the best and most beautiful ideas and tips to share and what I love most is that they are realistic things that anyone can do. You’re such an artist. I love that you can look at a book cover and then come up with an idea to make gift tags. That is just how your creative brain works and I love it! You have given me such great ideas that I can’t wait to share with my kids this summer, as were going to have craft days where we do art and make crafts. I also think this would make beautiful cards as well. Keep the ideas coming Annie!
xoxo, Jackie
