We made Buvette’s famous Chèvre Eggs + Other Favorites

One of my favorite restaurants in the city is Buvette for their chévre eggs on toast. I have them every time I go to Buvette in the West Village. Since we can’t always go to Buvette for breakfast, we made them at home. After a few tries, I think we got it right! If you’ve ever had them, you’ll love making them at home!
Buvette on Grove Street in the West Village

Buvette is open early to late, and you’ll find it at 42 Grove Street, right off the main shopping street in the West Village, Bleeker Street. There are other locations, including Paris!
And while you are in the neighborhood, make sure to visit their other restaurants, all within a block of Buvette. Bar Pissellino is excellent for coffee, drinks, and light bites. Via Carota is one of my favorite late-lunch or early-dinner spots. Order the Insalata Salad and a bowl of Cacio e Pepe. Just across the street from Via Carota is their provisions shop, where they sell all kinds of wonderful things, plus the Via Carota cookbook! Via Carota was recently named one of the top 50 restaurants in North America! See the list here!
The Via Carota cookbook is currently on sale for $23 at Amazon if you can’t pick up a copy at their shop.

Kips Bay Showhouse in Greenwich Village

This year, the Kips Bay Showhouse took over a 9,000-square-foot, six-level townhouse in Greenwich Village. Founded in 1973 to raise funds for after-school and enrichment programs for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, the Show House has grown into one of the nation’s most anticipated design events. This year marks the 50th anniversary. Open through October 19th in New York City.
We loved the two little reading nooks in the first room on the main floor. Can you imagine having spaces like this for your children? Filled with their favorite books and a cozy lamp? The little lamp is the Ferdy Cordless Table Lamp by Pooky.

The outdoor space was gorgeous with views of The First Presbyterian Church in the City of New York.

Outfit of the week

Warby Parker Tal Sunglasses // Kule Short-Sleeve Tee // Kule Long-Sleeve Tee // Sézane Houndstooth Vest // Alex Mill Neil Pant // Birkenstock all-leather Boston Clog
I purchased three new pieces in the last 10 days, and I find myself wearing them all the time. Now, mind you, I am an outfit repeater, but this vest from Sézane is excellent with so many things. Jeans (denim or black), black or cream wool trousers, a black skirt, or these pants from Alex Mill.
I love my two pairs of Neil Pants in Herrigbone in Vintage Olive and Ecru so much that I bought them in the color Pebble. It’s sort of a washed black. What I love about these pants is that they come out of the wash, and all you need to do is smooth them out and hang them to dry. They don’t stretch out during the day. They go with everything, and they look great all day.
Have you tried the JW Anderson jeans from Uniqlo? They come in five washes, and they are only $49.90!

Buvette’s famous Chèvre Eggs With Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Capers
These creamy eggs are accompanied by Chèvre, sun-dried tomatoes, and capers on top of a piece of toasted French country bread. Add a little salt and pepper, and you have a delicious meal.
- Prep Time: 10 minutes
- Cook Time: 7 minutes
- Total Time: 17 minutes
- Yield: 2 1x
- Category: Breakfast/Brunch
- Method: Stovetop
- Cuisine: French
Ingredients
- 6 eggs
- 1 tablespoon good butter
- 1 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 6 sun-dried tomatoes (I prefer whole sun-dried tomatoes, but if you can’t find them, julienne will also work)
- Chèvre
- A few capers
- 2 slices of toasted French country bread
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a toaster, under the broiler, or on a panini maker, toast two slices of French country bread.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk the eggs and heavy cream until combined.
- Melt the butter over medium-low heat in a non-stick skillet. The secret to creamy eggs is cooking them slowly over low heat.
- Once the butter has melted, pour the egg mixture into the skillet with the melted butter and add salt to taste.
- Using a rubber spatula, continually mix the eggs as they slowly cook. Continue cooking until the eggs are creamy and moist.
- Slide the eggs onto each slice of toasted bread. Top with Chèvre, sun-dried tomatoes, a few capers, and pepper.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
Cook the eggs slowly over a low heat to get the creamiest and lightest eggs possible. A higher temperature will cook the eggs faster, and they will become denser and firmer without the creamy texture.

I pinned the recipe and plan to make it when we have company for the FL/GA game in a couple of weeks! Thanks, Annie.

I HAVE had them at Buvette! I have a Buvette cookbook – I will have to look and see if they are in there?! Great post Annie ❣️

Annie
Hi Annie,
Lovely post thank you! That beautiful blue sofa…..Going to try those gorgeous eggs this week they look so scrumptious. I love your Sezane jacket!! Very chic! I might try a shirt from JW Anderson and Uniqlo, I like the jeans but worried they might be too long for petites, but you can’t beat the price. I adore your store and have bought many wonderful Christmas presents there, so worth it checking it out.
Have a wonderful week!
Francesca, I think the JW Anderson might be more suited for petites! I wear the crop shirt, and I have to be careful all day not to raise my arms…for obvious reasons! haha. The jeans are short on me, which I am fine with, but again, better suited for petites, I think!
Thank you so much Francesca for supporting my little shop! You are the best and I adore you!

Happy Sunday Morning!
How perfectly timed is your post, Annie!
I was out of town for a week and seeking to use our eggs near expiration.
As you know, over the years, I have channeled that amazing NYC Bistro into our PNW kitchen.
Through your inspo, I placed my Buvette cookbook on our farm table on this morning to inspire the week’s meal plan!
Best love to you and your family!
