Spring is a funny season. Isn’t it? It’s cold, rainy, and often snowy, yet we are ready to usher in the new season. I have a few ideas, 6 simple ways to refresh your home, just a little, for spring! Whether it feels like spring or not!
I’m joining a few friends that live all over the country, so if you live where it’s warm and sunny, not to worry, there will be something for you too!
Bring in new textiles like pillows and throws.
One of the easiest ways to freshen a room is with gorgeous new pillows. I had the opportunity to work with Arianna Belle on some new custom pillows for our living room.
Who is Arianna Belle?
What I love about this brand is that they are a mother-daughter small business that works with you to find the perfect pillows for your home. It goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway- the quality of the fabrics and the construction of the pillows is exactly what you want…exquisite!
They can work with you if you find something you love and that’s the “jumping off” point, or if you are looking for the “finishing touches” of a room, they can help you find the perfect pillows.
They have a photo gallery with some gorgeous inspiration. That’s how I discovered the pillows that I chose. The inspiration photo was pillows on a bed, but the size got me thinking I wanted a similar look on my sofa. It’s funny how you can see something that, at first glance, someone might think, how did you get that from a particular photo? But that’s what’s great about custom. You can take an idea, and then they help you make it perfect for you and your room.
Here’s another way they help you find the perfect pillows
On the website, you’ll see GUIDES. Here you’ll be able to receive “Decorative Pillow Sizing Cheat Sheets.”
This is so valuable! You can download the “cheat sheets” and never make a bad pillow purchase again! We’ve all done it. Fell in love with something and brought it home, only to realize that the size was just not right. The cheat sheets give you illustrations with sizing for pillow combinations for every size of bed and sofa!

The Pillows I chose from Arianna Belle
I am working with a houndstooth wool fabric on my sofa. It has clean lines and feels very menswear inspired. The other seating in the room is a pair of leather chairs.
I really wanted four pillows the same, but two different sizes. Velvet felt right, and can you ever go wrong with gorgeous velvet? They are so beautifully made and of course the perfect sizes for my furniture. It makes me love my house again! It’s amazing how something like new custom velvet pillows can make such a huge difference. I knew I never had the right pillows, but I never knew exactly what I needed until I saw the inspirational photos on the website! Check out the Lookbook right here!
A Spring Refresh Means a New Plant or Two
I love to blur the lines from outdoors to indoors by having a lot of plants. I borrow outdoor planters for a few plants, like jasmine, in the spring. I filled my pot with two plants from Trader Joes’s for $20!
I also love making my propagation wall a display wall using seasonal flowers like daffodils and tulips for spring. You can see more here!
One Big Bundle of Branches
I buy one bundle of Quince Branches every year and enjoy them for weeks. They are rather expensive, sometimes, the farmers market in NYC has them for less, but either way, they bring so much joy for a season that always seems too cold. Just something to get me from cold early spring to warmer spring days.
I filled my wall vase with pussy willows and my little metal nest from Terrain with chocolate bunnies.
Freshen the Stack of Books on the Coffee Table
I didn’t even purchase any new books; I just brought out some that are perfect for spring. I love the beautiful Terrain books and the Foraged Flora book. You can find all my favorite books here.
Add in some Linen in the way of Throws and Tablecloths
It’s too early to store away the throws, but we can exchange the cashmere for some linen. I adore the Libeco linen throws! They are good any time of year, and they wash beautifully.
I love to add a linen tablecloth to the dining table in the spring. A linen tablecloth covering the bare wood that seems to embrace winter is a welcome change in the spring. I wash and hang to dry, embracing all the wrinkles of linen.
Change out the “art” in the Frame TV.
Recently I wrote this post on how we easily change out the “art” in our Samsung Frame TV. It was time to let go of the charcoal hearts we had in February and replace them with a photo from the NYC Flower Market. Anemones are not just for spring, like tulips, but I love them for now!

What a great pillow resource! Thanks, Annie.
Your home looks amazing…simple changes that we all can do. I haven’t quite convinced Howard about the frame tv. Wish I could find a screen saver for the current one.
Love that throw on the back of your sofa!

Annie! So many great ideas. And I love your pillows. The velvet is beautiful … and looks so luxurious. I’m on Arianna Belle’s site right now looking at all the options! Your house looks gorgeous … fresh and ready for spring. But, as you say, it’s a funny season. We’re looking at another week of rain. Adore those bunny’s in what looks like a metal martini glass! So fun doing this with you. xo

Juliet, the website makes it easy to find exactly what you need in size and color! The velvet is as you say…so luxurious!
I cannot believe all the rain you are getting! And the snow in California too! So scary!
Stay safe!

Annie you are right Quince branches last forever! I had access to a wholesale florist in Salinas and so I would buy a bunch and enjoy them all season. I need to find a market down here! I use whatever Trader Joe’s has. I love your new pillows and my Libeco throws are my absolute favorites!

I love your style a lot! it is just like mine. I did buy the jasmine plants last week from Traders myself. I bought them a few years ago too and that plant took off like it got huge. Enjoy~
annie diamond says
Esther, I’m so curious, did you end up planting the jasmine outdoors for the summer? I never think to do that!

Your living room is gorgeous, so fresh, cozy and inviting!! Could you please tell me where you found the beautiful throw on the back of your houndstooth sofa? Thank you!
annie diamond says
Hi Barbara! It’s a Libeco throw (actually I think they call them towels) I did have them in my shop, but I sold out quickly. Would you like me to let you know when I restock them?
