You need to make this one-ingredient chocolate mousse today!

You need to make this one-ingredient chocolate mousse today! Like go to the pantry and check if you have a chocolate bar. That’s what I did, and in typical fashion, I made a few mistakes, which didn’t work the first time. This, however, did not deter me. You can melt it again and start over!
I’m back with Mary Ann and Cindy as we each bring you our five favorite finds of the week. We took a little break, but today, we are so happy to start the new year fresh and full of ideas, like this healthy-ish one-ingredient chocolate dessert!
Is it really one ingredient?
Yes, sort of. You’ll also need a little water and ice. And that’s it.

Is this chocolate mousse healthy?
There are plenty of articles that say yes! And we are talking about dark chocolate over milk chocolate.

What will I need to make this one-ingredient chocolate mousse?
- one 3.5-ounce bar of dark chocolate
- water
- ice
One-Ingredient Chocolate Mousse
Dark chocolate melted with a bit of water and whisked over an ice bath until it turns silky smooth.
Ingredients
- one 3.5-ounce bar of dark chocolate
- 2.5 ounces water
- ice
- small (tiny) cups
Instructions
- Chop the chocolate and add it to a small pan with the water and melt slowly. Remove from the heat and pour into a bowl.
- Place the bowl over a larger bowl of ice and whisk until it thickens. Make sure not to over-whisk. You’ll know it’s ready when you can pour it into small cups.
- Add a little Maldon sea salt or chocolate shavings and place them in the refrigerator, or eat right away!
Notes
If you over-whisk the chocolate and it gets too thick, do not worry. Melt and then begin again, making sure to whisk to the point that the chocolate can be poured into the tiny cups.
2. A Book that I read and Loved
All the Women in My Brain: And Other Concerns by Judy Gilpin
Madeline sent me a text and said I would love this book, and boy, she was right! It’s a very quick read. It’s so good, and I suggest listening to it. The author reads it, and she’s an actor, so it’s very well done. A few times, I sent Mad texts with one-liners that the author read, and she knew exactly what I meant! No explanations are needed. Like, BYE MEREDITH! The last few lines…will make you cry. Happy tears!
3. Who’s watching Emily in Paris?
I’m just going to admit it straight away…I’m loving season 3 of Emily in Paris! I love the characters, that it’s in Paris and the French countryside, and Sylvie…how fabulous is she?
4. Quilted Liner Coats
I have been looking for a quilted liner coat since last year when we went to London, and it seemed everyone was wearing one. There are several to choose from, but my favorite length is this one from Uniqlo. I also like the quilting pattern. It’s great for layering under and over! And it’s on sale!
5. Mary Ann’s Kitchen
I love the kitchen renovations that Mary Ann did on her new Florida home! The pendant lights, the tile, the bar stools….go check it out here if you haven’t already!

We are going to Paris next month and I was going to bring my quilted coat with a heavy wool scarf…so thank you for confirming that!
And THANK you so much for mentioning our kitchen makeover…so kind. Wish you were here now and I’d make you a cappuccino like the first time 🙂
Paris in the winter…so fun! And I love your kitchen!
Can’t wait to try. Have some dark chocolate, but it has almonds in it, so need to buy some more!
I had some left for when I was going to make candy bark….I think this is better! haha
Annie, I’m going to search for a chocolate bar right now! Loved Emily in Paris and sped through season 3 too quickly. Sylvia is something else … adore her. Appreciate the book recommendation. Happy New Year! xo
I have to make that mousse for Steve he would love it!! Love Mary Ann’s kitchen!! I guess I need to give Emily in Paris another shot. I could not get into the first season. Kim says I need to try it again.
I’ve been so curious about this recipe for the longest time – this is the inspiration I needed to finally try it – it looks amazing!
Annie what a great idea! Love dark chiocolate and mousse. I have a bar in the refrigerator I will try this! The Maldon sea salt is a yummy idea too. I adore this season Emily in Paris so much! Great minds think alike becasue I wrote about Sylvie on my blog too. Isn’t she great? I love the quilted coats and this one is darling in the khaki! I have the reversible one from J. Crew, but am tempted by this one too. They are so nice to have!
Have a great week.
