We found the perfect resort in the hills of Tuscany
We found the perfect resort in the hills of Tuscany. I decided that I needed to do one more post on Italy because the place where we stayed deserves its own post. It was pretty amazing!
How we found Borgo Scopeto Relais in the hills of Tuscany
I found it through the usual means of research….I googled “What’s the name of the resort in Letters to Juliet?” Yes, we are those Americans that went all the way to Tuscany to stay at the same hotel where the charming movie was filmed. Upon checking in and touring the grounds a bit, my husband asked, “How did you find this place again?” Since it was even more beautiful than I had imagined, I was okay with letting him know that my extensive research was basically a google search.
This beautiful resort in the hills of Tuscany is called Borgo Scopeto Relais
Borgo Scopeto Relais dates back to the eleventh century. Every building has been meticulously renovated and is truly magnificent. It is set up on a hill overlooking Siena. Upon entering the property you drive up a road lined with cypress trees. The buildings are made of stone and the shutters and doors are the perfect shade of gray blue. The rooms are gorgeous, many with their own terrace area. We had two rooms that felt really more like a small apartment with beautiful furnishings, stone floors and an iron staircase that separated the two rooms.
Borgo Scopeto Relais and the property surrounding it in the hills of Tuscany, is not farom from Siena
The property had everything from two pools, tennis, a spa, walking and bike trails along vineyards with gorgeous views. The cellar had a pool table and workout room. Breakfast was served on the patio each morning. The service was impeccable. As much as I love to travel to new places, I know we’ll head back to Borgo Scopeto Relais. The only question is when?
The light in Tuscany is just as you dreamed….magical!
Buonanotte!
It is so inviting! I want to go.
You clever woman Annie! I love your “google tactics”…what a fun movie that was. You lucked out as this is a beautiful spot and you have a wealth of material for future projects in these photos. Isn’t Tuscany wonderful? Dare I say I prefer Italy to France? Shhhh….don’t tell anyone. It will have Francophiles all up in arms. Loved following your photos on IG…takes a while to settle in after a trip like that. You have plenty of memories here…well done! xx
We passed this lovely place many times while staying in Sienna. I hope you enjoyed a lot of pasta dishes with wild boar while you were there! What were your favorite dining spots?
Hi Cindy,
We loved the food! I wish I could recall some of the places we found just by driving through the countryside. We loved the little place at the bottom of the hill in Ponte a Bozzone, La Picarda. Wonderful pasta dishes and pizza and gelato! I would love to know your favorite spots…I really think we’ll be going back. We loved it!

This is amazing! What a picturesque setting! Now I want to go back to Siena one more time!
Love!!!
So amazingly beautiful! Thank you for sharing Annie!! I am saving this and hope we will get there one day… I also have a lovely spot to recommend near Florence in the hills above which was much like this, but a bit smaller. It’s an old monastery. Atop a hill, it has a pool, olive groves an amazing view and family type rooms much like you described and breakfast on a lovely terrace! You might like it if you need a spot to stay near Florence. http://www.iparigi.com
I will have to find that film!!
