A Simple Breakfast Bowl with Kiwi

For Sunday favorites, I just have to share my new favorite breakfast bowl from nutritionist Dominique Ludwig. I saw this on her Instagram. Her new book is available for pre-order. It’s called No-Nonsense Nutrition. I’ve been following her for a couple of years, and she has consistent, no-nonsense recipes that explain exactly why each ingredient is important.

This breakfast bowl is so easy to put together once you have the ingredients. The most time-consuming part is peeling the kiwis! Everything else is just added to a bowl and whisked together. I use red kiwis as Dominique suggests, and they do taste a bit like a strawberry. Don’t skip the peanut butter on top!
Shopping List:
- Greek yogurt
- Kefir
- Ground flaxseed
- Nut milk (I used almond milk)
- Kiwi
- Peanut butter (The squueze kind is best if you can find it)

AYR – All Year Round
Last Sunday, I mentioned how much I love the T-shirts from the brand AYR. I love a good tee, I live in them, and when I find a good one, I wear it often. I am an outfit repeater both at home and especially when I travel. So when I find something good, I wear the heck out of it!
The AYR jeans are so good. I ordered the jeans called The Secret Sauce…and I get it! They are amazing. I ordered my usual size. They offer three lengths, and even though I am 5’10”, I only wear flats, so I ordered the regular length and they are perfect! I have already worn them three times this past week. They have seven washes. I chose Good Mood, and now I think I might need them in Creme Soda. It’s the perfect off-white for wearing all year round!
I also replaced my denim shirt with this one. I had my previous denim shirt forever and finally gave it away. It had pockets with flaps, so not great for layering–added way too much bulk. The Deep End in the color Odeon, is great for layering under oversized sweaters or for wearing over a Tee, with or without a blazer. I know this soft denim shirt will be a staple in my minimal wardrobe.
What we are watching to take our minds off the news
We’re certainly not burying our heads in the sand, but every now and then it feels healthy to take a small respite from the news. Lately, that escape has been All Creatures Great and Small—the cozy, beautifully filmed series set in the Yorkshire Dales, following a young veterinarian and the warm, quirky community he comes to call home. It’s comforting, kind, and quietly uplifting—exactly the sort of thing that lets you exhale for an hour.
What I’m reading…or should I say listening to?
I am a huge fan of audiobooks. It allows me to listen at the gym and even keeps me going a little longer sometimes, because I just can’t stop listening. Are you a fan of listening, or do you still prefer to hold a book in your hands? Madeline and I are both listening to The Correspondent by Virginia Evans. Perhaps you’ve already read it?
This is what Read Receipts said about The Correspondent in their December newsletter. It’s why I started it as my first book in January! What’s your first book of the new year?

You can sign up for a free or paid subscription to Read Receipts right here. It’s a newsletter about book recommendations.

I have a hard time with breakfast options because I am not a fan of eggs. I am going to try your kiwi bowl! I love my secret sauce AYR jeans. They never stretch out and are made of super sturdy fabric!!
Cindy! Really, not a fan of eggs? Brent over the holidays made them every morning and we all devoured them! Scrambled eggs with a little crème fraîche and some caramelized shallots mixed in on buttered toast. Aren’t those jeans the best? I love my denim shirt too!
xx
I loved The Correspondent when I read it last fall. So much, in fact, that I picked it for January for my book club. Now that I’m rereading it I’m noticing so much that I missed the first time around. Can’t wait to hear what my friends think.
Hi Dot! I was thinking it would make for such an interesting book club discussion! I have not met one person that didn’t truly enjoy the book! People of all ages! xx
The Correspondent is my book club pick also! The whole group is looking forward to reading it! I’ve been hearing so many good things about it. I’m so glad because my last book club pick was a dud and I had to serve a very nice dinner so the group wouldn’t be mad at me (lol 😀 )
HI Kiersten! Oh that happens once in a while! We hear good things about a book and then the whole time you’re reading it…you can’t figure out why! ha I’m sure your dinner more than made up for it! I listened to the book and it was fabulous! Multiple characters and I think you are going to love it! But do keep me posted!

Hi Annie,
Happy New Year! Love the Kiwi bowl thank you. I read recently that kiwi fruit are so good for you. I also bought the AYR denim shirt can’t wait to wear it.
Happy week!
HI Francesca! I’ve only recently heard that kiwis are so good for you and that you should eat one a day! I am now getting slightly quicker with peeling them! You’re going to love the AYR denim shirt! It’s soft, but not too soft…if you know what I mean!
xx
Loved The Corespondent. I also listened to it. Wonderful. I trust your taste in clothes so going over to Ayers. Looking at everything you mentioned. Thanks. .
Hi Sandra – The audio book is particularly well done! I love Sybil Vsn Antwerp’s voice! I am cerrtain you’ll love AYR! xx
Love this post today. I am going to the Yorkshire Dales and spending my 70th birthday in the town used for “All creatures great and small” and am so excited. A dream trip, along with Rowan Tree Travel, a bespoke agency with small groups.
Cheers!
Sandy! Oh my goodness! What an amazing trip that will be! What a wonderful way to spend your 70th! xx
Dear Annie,
I love the way you and Madeline share “Mother – Daughter” ventures including reading the same books. My granddaughter and I are reading “Spirited Stones: Lesson from Kubotas Gardens “. It is the story of immigrant Fujitaro Kubota who transformed 20 acres into a beautiful and enduring Japanese garden in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Seattle. We will stroll through it’s beauty when she returns home for spring break, just in time for cherry blossoms.
Happiest of New Year’s from Mercer Island,
Diney
Hi Diney! What a lovely way to think of reading the same book as our daughters/grandaughter! I am intrigued with the book you and your granddaughter are reading! I’m adding it to my TBR list!

Hi Annie,
I will try your breakfast bowl with Kiwi. I eat Kiwi often, I know it’s good for you. I have never seen red Kiwi before. In the past I used to buy Lifeway Kefir. Do you buy the plain or flavored? I imagine the breakfast is very filling, Peanut Butter is very filling. I did find Jiffy in a squeeze container at our local store.
I love Maidenhair ferns. To put the container in a can is a great idea.
I have been considering buy the AYR Secret Sauce jeans, hoping to go into a store to try them on. Going by the size chart is very helpful. The style you selected looks like it should work with wearing my New Balance sneaks. I have bad funky feet, this is pretty much what I live in. I’m 5’6″ 1/2 the regular should be perfect. My sneakers have a good inch of foam in them. Do yours zip up?
I have not read The Connection yet. I’m reading “Let Them, Mel Robbins, and one of my top hero’s HOPE, Jane Goodall. I saw her twice once in person, the other time on Zoom. We will never have another Jane Goodall in our life time I don’t think.
We love, love, love All Creatures Great and Small. Started watching it from the very beginning. It offers a quiet peaceful non violet place to fill your life with peace for an hour. It’s so important with our world looking so grim right now. Hoping for better days ahead, but I’m not so sure that is in the stars with our current administration.
Have a lovely week.
Hi Katherine! Thank you for your note! One thing about the AYR jeans is that they run pretty long. I’m 5’10” and have the regular length and they are the longest pair of pants I own. Perfect length with loafers, sneakers etc. Just keep that in mind if you order. And yes, they zip!
I need to add Jane Goodall’s book to my TBR list! And yes, All Creatures Great and Small is a lovely distraction from what’s going on right now! It’s all very upsetting!

I’m afraid that AYR is way out of my budget. I still wear my jeans from JCP and Chicos. And then I buy on sale only. I raised my four sons who are now 57-62 on JCP clothes. My style is similar to yours although in petite. I live in the rural Colorado front range mountains just outside of a very small town so very casual, a lot of western looks but not me, born in Michigan. I live in jeans and tees often with a flannel shirt or sweater over the top. I loved the book All Creatures Great and Small and will watch on BritBox. I need a break from the news.
Hi Sydney, they are expensive, but I wear my clothes to death! I have four pair of blue denim and rotate them! These are fabulous because they can be worn multiple times without washing. I spray them with vodka, hang them in the cold air and they get a little crisp and then I can wear again! I grew up in Denver btw, and my brother lives in Steamboat! Colorado is so beautiful!
