Golden Latte

Next time you are in the mood for a warm drink, try a golden latte. It’s delicious and it’s really good for you too!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups unsweetened almond or cashew milk
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, peeled, thinly sliced, and crushed or 46 drops Ginger Vitality Essential Oil
  • 2 teaspoons coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh turmeric, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon or 4 drops Cinnamon Bark Vitality Essential Oil
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground dried turmeric for serving

Instructions

Heat the almond milk, fresh turmeric, ginger, coconut oil, cinnamon and honey in a small pot over medium heat just until it begins to simmer.  Reduce heat, cover and simmer five minutes. Remove from the heat, strain and discard the solids. If using essential oils, add them after removing pan from the heat. Whisk until frothy and pour into two cups. Serve with a dusting of ground turmeric.

Notes

I peel the turmeric and ginger using a potato peeler and then continue to use the peeler to get thin slices of turmeric and ginger.  I crush the ginger using a mortar and pestle to release the flavor. It’s best to use a small sauce pan with a spout.  Once it has simmered for five minutes, pour it over a mesh strainer into a large measuring cup so that you have room to whisk until frothy.
