Ingredients

Scale
  • Four thick slices of bread (Texas Toast works great)!
  • 34 tablespoons butter, softened at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Spread the butter on both sides of the bread, and heat a cast iron skillet stovetop.
  2. When it’s hot, add one slice of bread and fry until lightly browned; repeat on the other side.
  3. Once you’ve “toasted” all four slices of bread on both sides, you’re ready to add the sugar.
  4. Add the sugar on one side using a shaker or a mesh sieve and then shake off the excess.
  5. Then lay the template on top and add the cinnamon the same way or use a shaker. Carefully remove the template, and move on to the next piece of toast.
  6. Serve immediately!

Notes

Of course, you don’t have to make and use a template, but it does make it extra fun to serve. Frying the bread stovetop with the butter added first makes it extra decadent. This is a special occasion toast that’s so easy to make and will instantly bring back waves of nostalgia!
