  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup dark molasses
  • One tablespoon of ground cinnamon
  • One tablespoon of ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground clove
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 12 tablespoons butter, cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons whole milk

Instructions

  1. Add the flour, dark brown sugar, spices, salt, and baking soda, and whisk together until combined.
  2. Add the molasses and mix until combined, then add the cubed butter at room temperature for about 20 minutes and mix with a stand or hand mixer until completely incorporated.
  3. Add the milk and mix again.
  4. Divide the dough into two balls and freeze for 20 minutes.
  5. Make balls quickly, rolling in granulated sugar first, then powdered sugar.
  6. Place on parchment-lined cookie sheets at bake for 10-11 minutes. Do not overbake. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a minute or two, and then move to a cooling rack.
