Martha Stewart’s skillet chocolate chip cookie recipe is a great excuse to make a giant chocolate chip cookie for any occasion and for a Sunday favorite!

Ingredients

Scale
  •  1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugars with a wooden spoon until combined.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla and mix well.
  4. Next, stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  6. Spread the cookie dough evenly in a 10-inch cast iron skillet and smooth the top and around the edges.
  7. Put the cast iron skillet in the center of the oven and bake cookie until golden brown, about 18 to 20 minutes or a bit longer if needed.
  8. Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, and serve your giant warm cookie immediately.

Notes

If the edges start to get too brown while baking, place some foil around the edges while the rest of the cookie turns golden brown.
