There are a few things that instantly make me think of summer and one of those things is linen. The 100% kind that has that all over wrinkled look that only could come from the best linen. When Garnet Hill asked me to write about their linen sheets…of course I said yes!
Other than table linens, linen is only for summer. I may wear white jeans in December with a cashmere turtleneck, but I would never wear a linen shirt past September or before June. I don’t have a lot of self-imposed rules, but this might be one of them. And the same goes for sheets. I prefer flannel in the winter and a nice cotton percale for those in between months, but for summer….give me all the linen. I can already tell these linen sheets are going to just get better with age. After each wash they feel just a little bit softer.
100% linen sheets that get better with each wash…
For Madeline’s room at home (she lives in the city now, but I will always call this Mad’s room), we chose Steel Gray sheets in 100% Linen. For a summer throw we went with Bristol Cotton & Linen Striped Throw. The west elm headboard was slipcovered in a piece of African Mud cloth I found on Etsy. You can see more of this room here and here.
As I mentioned, I am writing this post for Garnet Hill who graciously gave us a set and they are going to give one lucky reader a set too! You can pick your color and size and you’ll enjoy them for years, but only in the summer! Follow these rules to enter…I hope you win!
