Instagram for daily inspiration is one way I start my day…it can be one little square that may change my perspective as I head out the door. I mean a pretty photo by someone I follow can lead to all sorts of things. Like the one above from Steve from Urban Cottage Home. I have “known” Steve from the beginning days of blogging and the other day his vignette of limelight hydrangeas and apples on a linen tablecloth in his kitchen inspired me to a) find some limelight hydrangeas and b) ask my friend to re-create her own version and let me come over and photograph it.
I noticed that Diane (I shared the outside of her home here) commented on Steve’s photo so I asked if she would re-create it. The next morning on my way to work I stopped at her house and photographed it in her beautiful kitchen. I love her kitchen. It’s black and white, but much more zen than ours…my next kitchen will be more zen!

I tried to do the same with limelights I cut at our other house (another story). I brought them home and filled a McCoy vintage vase and sliced the only apple I had in the house. I was losing light fast, but I came close.

This week we’ll be trying out Freshly. Have you heard of it? I love the idea of fresh food, not frozen being delivered to our door. On the days that I work I never have time to exercise. I use that excuse and spend my time at the grocery store and then preparing a meal instead of exercising. Freshly might be the answer on days that I work to still be able to attend a yoga or bar method class.
I love anything and everything with fringe or that raw edge like this new Solana bedding from Serena & Lily. This top that I’ll wear under sweaters all fall and winter and this Suede Wrap-Tie Choker that I wear as a bracelet from Old Navy.
Our weather has been ridiculously hot this week. Madeline would know—in her walk-up apartment with no air! Anyway, it’s cooled down and now I have winter coats on my mind. I love menswear! Always have. I ended up not buying this coat at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, so now this one is the one I want. It’s everything in a Winter Coat. It’s long, not too long, has menswear styling and it’s from Vince. Now if only it would go on sale before Spring!
Brooke’s patio makeover is amazing. It went from a very bland, back of the house deck to having major wow factor and a place they love to hang out. And we are having the perfect weather for it!
Hope everyone has a great weekend! Our plans include a bike ride along the Westside highway and I’m sure some gelato along the way!
