Happy Halloween!
We just moved into our new (old) house and while we’ve had painters, electricians, plumbers and a carpenter creating a space for Patrick and his friends in the attic here for the last few weeks, there’s still so much to do. I wanted to share our ideas for the front door. Once again we have a porch, which we love, and a glass front door. As per usual, I didn’t notice that the door was in pretty rough shape until we were moving in. So, we need a new door…and hardware, lights, mailbox, doorbell, house numbers and the list goes on… I’m still researching the door, but this is what’s about to be added to our current situation.
This is what we will be adding to our front porch/door the minute it arrives from Rejuvenation & Schoolhouse!
- Carson Wall Sconce // 2. Edison Lightbulbs // 3. Black + White Number Signs // 4. Door Hardware from Emtek // 5. Galvanized Ribbed Planters // Stripe Doormat // 7. Please Ring Doorbell // 8. Black Mailbox
This house has cedar shake shingles and it’s in pretty good shape so we are not going to be painting it white…I know…but it does not make sense since we are close to the water. We decided to embrace the East Hampton Beach Cottage look. On our trip to Montauk last spring we noticed a lot of homes with a similar look as our house and they all had white doors. Painting our door white would not be my first thought, but with white trim and cedar shakes, it makes sense. We are adding two Carson Wall Sconces in gloss black, Black + White Number Signs, door hardware from Emtek in flat black, a mailbox, doormat and our favorite galvanized metal planters from our old house are back in action.
Our house today. . . soon to be a little bit cuter!
So here it is for today…complete with construction dust and all on the black stained porch. I cannot wait to get a new door and use our new hardware from Emtek. I used a water-based Sharpie to write trick~or~treat and I’m still debating if I need to go get a few pumpkins this afternoon. Or maybe just add some paper bag luminaries! I have candles and I have brown paper lunch bags.
Annie, you always make the best choices for your homes!
Well I already LOVE everything you’ve chosen! Your plans for the home sound perfect! The lights and hardware are beautiful. It’s so fun to see all the progress. Now I just have to plan a trip to NYC so I can meet you at a cute coffee shop near your home!
