For this month’s Project Design, we are talking fall fashion. I know for some it seems early, but if you are a Nordstrom Anniversary shopper…then we are actually late. I’m joining my friends Mary Ann of Classic Casual Home and Cindy of Rough Luxe Life Style and five other bloggers to share our favorite fall looks.

I asked Madeline to help me and we decided to take the angle of one great versatile jacket and wearing it three ways. Madeline and I love to travel and when we do they are often quick trips and we pack light making the most of our time.
A sporty look: flea markets & coffee shops
With one jacket you can go sporty and wear sneakers, a fun t-shirt or a really great sweatshirt. Our favorite is the lightweight French Terry crew from Everlane. Wear it with jeans and it’s the perfect outfit for checking out coffee shops, flea markets or sightseeing.
Madeline’s Casual Look
lightweight french terry crew // jacket from Madewell // boyfriend jeans // necklace // Adidas Stan Smith // T-shirt
Annie’s Casual Look
the oversized blazer // turtleneck // light weight French terry crew // sneakers // jeans // silk hair tie
A little bit dressed up: lunch & museums
Wear it with a dark wash jean or black jeans with a a great shirt or top and a flat and you’ve got an outfit for lunch and museums in the city and a look that can transition to dinner out at most places. If there’s a restaurant where denim is not allowed…it’s probably not on my list.
Madeline’s Day look
sleeveless sweater // silk hair tie // jacket // flats // jeans
Annie’s Day Look
The oversized blazer // scarf // silk blouse // loafers // jeans
Head to toe black: dinner in the city
For a slightly dressier version of the day look, we are both wearing head to toe black under our jackets and I’m wearing my favorite Gucci shoe that I consider a heel (but Gucci calls it a loafer) ha! at 5″10 I’ll call it a heel if I want to! At the last minute for photos, Madeline switched to the shirtdress in black from Everlane.
Madeline’s Evening Look
silk top // gold cuff bracelet // hoops // jacket // boots // jeans
Annie’s Evening Look
The Over-Sized Blazer // Cashmere & Silk Wrap // Black Cuff Bracelet// Black Denim Jean // Silk Muscle Tank // Gucci Marmont Pump

Fun post Annie! I love your Gucci shoes in last photo with classic stripe detail – any source on those???
You’re so right, Annie, about that Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It was a great peek (and great prices) at the fall trends. The blazer looks so exciting this year. I loved watching you and Madeline style it for different activities. It’s quite an efficient piece to own! Thanks for the tips!
We love the Nordstrom anniversary sale…but remember when it was more of an event? xx
What FUN with the DAUGHTER!!!!!!!!
Blazers I never wear………don’t know why but never have.I agree it is a polished pulled together LOOK!
AS for the SHOES………a FUN FACT!
Gucci made MY WEDDING SHOES SPECIAL FOR ME ONE OF A KIND!
I cherish them and have them hanging with my veil and invitation in a lucite framed box on my wall in the closet!
They were worn ONCE!
HAPPY FALL TO YOU ANNIE!!!!

Blazers are too boring for YOU! How fun that you had custom made Gucci shoes for your wedding! Have you ever shared a photo of them framed in lucite? I love the sound of that! xo
Annie, This is my first visit to your beautiful site, so I started by reading about you and your creative husband. Bravo! I like your design aesthetic. Like me, you’re a minimalist. Love the different ways you and Madeline have styled your blazers, and I look forward to following you! Brenda
Thank you for your kind words Brenda! I’m so happy to be introduced to you today! It is what I love about these posts the most…meeting amazing people like you! Perhaps you’ll have a speaking engagement somewhere near me in the future!
Annie, I could not love this more. Going to share it on my page. You and Madeline are both so stylish in your own way. You both that have terrific New York girl look that I always want to emulate, but never can! It’s all in the details isn’t it? The hair ties, loafers and bracelets are the perfect flourishes to well chosen and beautiful basics. This is all we ever need! And I’m with you Annie if you can’t wear jeans to a restaurant then I probably don’t go there Lol! So great to see you together and I have to catch up on more posts of yours. Hugs, xx Kim
Kim- I always love your California style…you make style look effortless if you are in jeans and sweater or a Trina Turk dress. I’m so beyond thrilled that we finally got to meet last spring.
BY the way Annie, I love how you’re rocking your long hair. It look great on you. I want those Gucci loafers too! x
Thanks for saying that…I do need a hair cut though. And in what I save by shopping at Everlane and Madewell…is spent on good shoes! The MOST comfortable shoes ever. I can walk 10 miles in the city all day and my feet are fine at the end of the day in Guccis!
A good blazer is just wardrobe magic, isn’t it? And both of those are very good blazers! Great styling!
What a clever idea to do this with Madelyn. I wonder if I could convince my daughter to do this? Annie you are so true to your style and brand in everything you do. You rock this menswear look and Madelyn looks pretty darn cute as well.
Cindy! Yes, you could do a post with you, Jen and Summer and Mary Ann with Aly and me and Mad!
Love the outfits! Can you tell who makes your flooring? 😍
Hi Laura,
Our house was built in 1922 and the floors may be original. We had it refinished last fall. We had it sanded down to natural and then had it finished with one part country white and one part gray. Hope that helps.
Annie
New follower as a result of the “eight bloggers show you how” and so happy I found you. All of these looks really fit my fashion style, lifestyle, and budget. As a Northern California woman, close to San Francisco, I think you’ve nailed it!
Hi Nicole! Thank you for reading! You’re so lucky to be a northern California girl! We lived in Southern California twice and it’s hard to let go… xx
Love all the looks! All so versatile. Thanks for pulling this together. Madeline’s jacket is super cute! Meant to ask you too if you still enjoying the Maiden Home coach? I’m thinking about purchasing from them. How is it holding up? Well? Thank you.
