- 2 thick slices of good bread
- 1 large ripe avocado
- sea salt
- olive oil
- lemon
- red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Scoop out the avocado into a bowl and mash with a fork
- squeeze a lemon into the bowl
- add a little sea salt
- toast the bread
- spread each slice with half of the avocado mash
- drizzle with good olive oil and sprinkle with red pepper flakes
Notes
I’m not sure when avocado toast became a thing, but I only know how to make it the rustic way. I can’t for the life of me cut an avocado into perfect slices, but either way, I love it. It has simple ingredients and the only tricky part is having a ripe avocado on hand. I can keep bread in the freezer, lemons keep for weeks, and I always have salt, red pepper and olive oil.
