I’m getting ready for Halloween. October 31st is a pretty big deal in our New England town, especially if you happen to live on an “in-town” street. Our house is black and white, very old and in the middle of town. Halloween decorations are quite perfect for this little house. The first thing I did was erase the usual “hello” from my front door and use a black sharpie water-based paint marker to write a new message.
I love this owl from west elm.
I found these treat sacks that are just the right size at the Container Store. I used tinyprint gift tag stickers and address labels to seal each bag. I love that they are personalized.
When our kids were little and trick-or-treating through town they couldn’t wait to get to the “cider house.” A house right in the middle of town would serve a cup of cider in addition to handing out candy. My kids loved this little treat so this year I’m adopting their tradition.

Great idea, Annie. I have the same coffee pot. Isn’t it the best? Your porch looks so inviting even on a spooky night!

Hi Annie,
I found your site through Mary Ann (Classic Casual Home). I’ve followed her for some time and love her style. As a fellow Orange County gal, I was interested in seeing your posts since you have transplanted to a state I’ve only been through once, but loved!
Your Halloween treats are so welcoming. I’m sure you get to see plenty of little goblins and ghosts.

I love everything you’ve done to decorate for Halloween — just perfect! The cider is such a thoughtful touch. Can you tell me about the container you are using to keep it warm?

Of course you will become the popular cider house! Love your porch, door, candy bags, stickers, table of treats…basically EVERYTHING! And guess what? I just clicked your link for Tiny Prints and ordered the same stickers and will go to the Container Store tomorrow for the bags…you are the inspiration and source for so many of us! Happy Halloween!
