It is no secret that I am a huge fan of the work of the husband and wife team Nichole and Evan Robertson of Obvious State. Nichole’s blog was one of the first blogs I ever read on a regular basis. I loved her writing style and of course her gorgeous photography of everything from butter to the streets of Paris. I think I bought her book for everyone I know and still hoard a few copies for myself. When I first moved back to Connecticut I discovered the work by her husband Evan. I immediately chose four of his illustrated quotes and hung them in my dining room. This year, as our daughter graduates from high school and starts her next chapter in college, we found several reasons to carefully choose the perfect ones for her friends. She has friends here in New Canaan where she spent her senior year and of course from her former high school where she spent the first three years in Dana Point, CA. This is the Illustrated Quote we chose for Madeline’s dorm. This was so perfect for Madeline. Moving from New Canaan, CT to Dana Point, CA for her first three years of high school was anything but easy. It’s not to say that it was the hardest thing anyone has had to endure during those years, but this quote pretty much summed up her feelings on the California experience. It’s so much easier to love California from a distance. Obvious State now has these pocket books and greeting cards as well. We love them all! I’m off to wrap them up and get them in the mail.
